Elydia Mondragon, a cherished mother, grandmother, and friend, departed this life September 12, 2026, at the age of 80. Born on August 3, 1946, in Pecos, Texas. Elydia was the beloved daughter of Domingo and Santos Carrasco. Her life was a testament to love, resilience, and laughter, leaving behind a legacy that will be cherished by all who knew her. Elydia spent her formative years in Pecos, where she graduated from Pecos High School. She carried the lessons of her upbringing into a career marked by dedication and compassion. Elydia worked in sales for American National Insurance, where her warmth and sincerity touched countless lives. Later, she worked as a caregiver, offering comfort and kindness to those in need and later in life retired. A devoted member of the Jehovah's Witnesses, Elydia's faith was the cornerstone of her life, guiding her actions and nurturing her spirit. Her home was a sanctuary of love, where she delighted in the company of her grandchildren and her loving pets, talking on the phone with her friends Kim, Fina and family, sharing laughter and joy with those she held dear. Elydia had a passion for watching HGTV, Hallmark movies, and exploring Pinterest, always finding inspiration and joy in the simple pleasures of life. Elydia was predeceased by her parents, Domingo and Santos Carrasco, her brother Domingo Carrasco, Jr., and her sisters Manuela Rodriguez, Jessica Montgomery, and Ex-Husband Manuel Mondragon. Her memory will forever be cherished by her children: Miriam Muniz and her husband Octavio of Pecos, Manuel Mondragon and his wife Leticia of Odessa, Margaret Serrano and her husband Ryan of El Paso, Michael Mondragon and his wife Kimberly of Balmorhea, and Marcus Mondragon and his wife Crystal of Odessa. Her brothers Martin, Cristobal Carrasco, Moises Arenivas, and her sister Tomasa Carrasco. Her legacy is further carried on by her adored grandchildren: Christopher, Brian, Isaac, Dustie, Kalyn, Karyna, Zaira, Karly, Justene, Kory, Karyn, Jayden, Mia, and Alani; and her great-grandchildren: Tomas, Aaliyah, Raiden, Hailey, and Camden. Elydia's family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the compassionate staff of Reeves Regional Home Health & Hospice, Avir Nursing Home, Tammy Orona, Karyn Mondragon, and the Pecos Funeral Home for their unwavering support and care. A viewing will be held Monday, September 21, 2026, at Pecos Funeral Home from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. and a celebration of Elydia's life will be held on September 22, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at Pecos Funeral Home, located at 607 W 3rd, Pecos, Texas with burial to take place at Saragosa cemetery. Elydia Mondragon will be remembered for her loving, caring, and funny nature. Her legacy of love and laughter will live on in the hearts of her family and all who were blessed to know her.
