Elvina Alexander Sampy
July 27, 1938 — March 19, 2026
In loving remembrance of a remarkable woman, Elvina Alexander Sampy, who graced this world with her presence on July 27, 1938, in the charming town of Carencro, Louisiana. Elvina's journey on earth concluded peacefully on March 19, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of love, warmth, and unwavering faith.
Elvina was the cherished daughter of the late Lucille and Tony Alexander, whose values and love shaped her into the beloved matriarch she became. She was predeceased by her devoted parents, her treasured children, Paula and Carl Sampy, and her dear sisters, Alfreda Harris, Ruby Alexander, and Agnes Cormier.
Elvina's life was a testament to the power of family and community. She was the beloved mother of Katie (Christopher) Shelvin and Samuel (Nicole) Sampy. Her nurturing spirit was a guiding light for her grandchildren, John Keith (Lynette) Sampy, Sherell (Jason Jacob) Zenon, Angela (Terrell Hebert) Shelvin, Avery (Dondranique) Shelvin, and Stephanie Sampy, and her great-grandchildren, Brandon Jr., Anya, Ma'Kiya, McKenzie, McKinlie, Amya, Ma'Laja, Jonay, Landyn, Malachi, Journey, Tyrone, McKiylie, and My'Cah.
Elvina's heart was as expansive as her family. She extended her love and care to her surviving sister, Eunice Charles, and brother, Joseph (Wanda) Alexander, creating bonds that were strengthened by shared memories and mutual support.
A devout Catholic, Elvina's faith was the cornerstone of her life. She received her Carcia with reverence, and her spiritual journey was reflected in her compassionate and welcoming spirit. Her love for family gatherings, Bingo nights, and shopping excursions to Wal-Mart were mere extensions of her desire to connect and share joy with those around her. Her porch was a place of solace and kindness, where she would wave at passersby, offering a smile that could brighten anyone's day.
Elvina found great joy in her friendships at ADHC Daycare in Carencro, where she spent many cherished moments. Her warmth and kindness were felt by all who knew her, and her legacy will continue to be felt in the hearts of her family and friends.
