Elvia Lucero

Elvia Lucero, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully at home on July 10, 2026, after a short battle with cancer. She was 78 years old. Elvia was born on April 12, 1948, in El Paso, Texas, to her loving mother, Aurora Smith. She shared a close bond with her family and was predeceased by her mother, her brother Santiago Muniz, and her sister Aida Fisher. Despite these losses, Elvia's spirit remained vibrant and full of love, qualities that she shared generously with everyone around her. On January 4, 1964, Elvia married the love of her life, Richard Lucero, in Utah. Together, they built a beautiful life and celebrated 62 wonderful years of marriage. Elvia is survived by her devoted husband, Richard, and their cherished children: Richard Lucero Jr., Melynda Lucero, Melissa Lightning, Auralee McGinnus (Tim), and Andrew Lucero (Yoshi). Her legacy of love and kindness extends to her grandchildren, Justine Lightning, Jordan Lightning (Evie), Jessica Lightning, and Logan McGinnus, and she joyfully welcomed her great-grandson, Lincoln Lightning, into the family. Elvia was known for her unwavering love of the Lord and her grandchildren. Her faith and family were the cornerstones of her life, and she found immense joy in nurturing these relationships. She was eagerly looking forward to the role of a great-grandmother, a testament to her enduring love and commitment to her family. Elvia's life will be celebrated at a service on October 10, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at the Canyon Lake Country Club. Friends and family are invited to gather to honor a life well-lived and a woman deeply loved. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to a charity of your choice, reflecting Elvia's generous spirit and her commitment to helping others. Elvia Lucero touched the lives of all who knew her with her kindness, faith, and unwavering love. She will be dearly missed and forever remembered.
