It is with profound sadness and yet with great respect for a life well-lived, that we announce the passing of Eloit Doyle Rice, Jr, who left this world peacefully on June 20, 2026, at the age of 68. Eloit passed away at the nursing home where he resided, surrounded by the love and care of those who cherished him deeply.
Born on August 30, 1957, in the vibrant city of Baltimore, Maryland, Eloit was the beloved son of the late Etta Mae Rice and Elioit D. Rice, Sr. His early years were filled with the warmth of family, laughter, and the kind of love that only siblings can share. Eloit was predeceased by his dear sister, Katherine Rice, with whom he shared countless treasured memories.
Eloit's life was a tapestry of service, dedication, and passion. He proudly served his country in the United States Navy for 11 years, earning numerous awards for his unwavering commitment and exemplary service. His time in the Navy was not just a career, but a calling that shaped his life and his character.
Beyond his military service, Eloit was a man of many talents and interests. An avid biker, he found joy and freedom on the open road, embracing the wind and the journey it promised. His love for computer programming showcased his brilliant mind and his constant quest for knowledge, while his passion for golfing reflected his appreciation for both challenge and camaraderie.
Eloit was a man known for his quick wit and generous spirit. He was always ready with a clever remark that could lighten any mood and a helping hand for his brothers and sisters. His kindness and humor were gifts to all who knew him, leaving an indelible mark on the hearts of his family and friends.
He leaves behind a legacy of love and cherished memories with his surviving family: his sisters Norma Jane (Rice) Pollard, who along with Theodore Pollard and their daughter Portia Pollard, and Loretta (Rice) Boyd, who with Reginald Golden and their daughter Cierra Golden, will forever hold him close in their hearts. His brother, James Dean Rice, and his children James D. Rice, Jr., Latoya Rice, and Kawanda Rice, will continue to honor his memory. His sister, Lisa (Rice) Roundtree, and his brother, Matthew Rice, will remember him as a steadfast presence and a beloved part of their lives.
In accordance with Eloit's wishes, a private funeral ceremony will be held to celebrate his life and bid farewell to a man who was deeply loved and will be greatly missed.
Eloit Doyle Rice, Jr. lived a life full of adventure, commitment, and love. As we say goodbye, we hold tightly to the memories of his laughter, his bravery, and his unwavering devotion to family. May he rest in peace, knowing he was deeply loved and will never be forgotten.
