In Loving Memory

Elmo Colson
October 22, 1925 — July 8, 2026
Elmo Colson, a cherished soul who graced this world for a century, entered into eternal rest on July 8, 2026, at his home in Stratford, Connecticut, enveloped by the love of his family. Born on October 22, 1925, in Salisbury, North Carolina, to the late Luke and Louise Garvin Colson, Elmo's life was a tapestry woven with resilience, love, and devotion.
Elmo was predeceased by his beloved parents, three daughters—Lottie Haynes, Linda Ryan, and Brenda Linton—and his brother, Henry Colson. Though their absence was profoundly felt, Elmo's heart found solace in the memories they shared, carrying their spirits with him through life's journey.
A devoted family man, Elmo's legacy is lovingly carried on by his surviving children: sons Daniel Colson of Bridgeport and William Colson of Waterbury, and daughters Shirley Lewis of Stratford and Deborah Colson of Southbury. His family expanded to include twenty grandchildren, seventeen great-grandchildren, and five great-great-grandchildren, each a testament to the love and guidance he bestowed upon his family. Elmo's nephew also holds a special place among those who cherish his memory.
Elmo spent much of his life in Bridgeport, Connecticut, where he resided for sixty-eight years before moving to Stratford in his twilight months. His presence in these communities was marked by kindness and a gentle spirit that left a lasting impact on all who had the privilege of knowing him.
A life well-lived is celebrated through the love and laughter shared with family and friends, and Elmo's life was no exception. His warmth and wisdom were pillars for his family, his stories and laughter echoes that will forever resonate in their hearts.
The family invites friends and loved ones to join in celebrating Elmo's remarkable life on July 13, 2026, at 11:00 AM at Morton's Mortuary, located at 25 Margaret E. Morton Lane, Bridgeport, CT 06607. As we gather in remembrance, we honor the legacy of a man whose heart was vast and whose love was unwavering.

Elmo Colson's journey on this earth may have concluded, but his legacy of love and kindness will continue to inspire all who were touched by his life. He will be dearly missed, but his memory will forever be a guiding light to those he leaves behind.
