It is with heavy hearts and cherished memories that we announce the passing of Ellis C. Penn, affectionately known to many as Charles, who peacefully left this world on May 31, 2026, at the age of 67, after a courageous 11-year battle with illness. Ellis was a beacon of love, strength, and humor, touching the lives of all who had the privilege of knowing him. Born on January 7, 1959, Ellis was the beloved son of Napoleon Penn and Rosie Mae Pratchett. Raised in a home filled with love and laughter, Ellis embodied the gentle spirit of his family. Though he has now been reunited with his parents, sister Jennifer, and brothers James and Nate, his presence remains a guiding light for those who survive him. Ellis shared an incredible journey of 47 years with his devoted wife, Nanci, who fondly remembers him as her gentle giant—a man of few words, yet one whose every action spoke volumes of love and devotion. Together, they created a family that blossomed with love, raising a legacy of 20 grandchildren who lovingly called him "Pops" or "Papa." These grandchildren, along with his surviving brother Jasin and sisters Patricia and Janell, will carry forward his spirit of kindness, strength, and humor. Ellis had a captivating smile that could light up any room, and a voice that brought melodies to life. His love for singing was only matched by his skillful hands, always finding something to create or mend. Ellis's jokes could bring laughter even in the hardest times, a testament to his enduring optimism and warmth. In remembering Ellis, we celebrate a life well-lived—a life filled with love, laughter, and an unyielding spirit. His memory will forever be etched in the hearts of his family, friends, and all who were fortunate to know him. A private funeral ceremony will be held in accordance with Ellis's wishes, allowing his family to bid him a heartfelt farewell in an intimate and personal setting. Ellis C. Penn leaves behind a legacy of love, humor, and resilience. Though words may never fully capture the essence of his spirit, those who knew him will forever hold his memory close, cherishing the light he brought into their lives. Rest in peace, dear Ellis. Your journey here may be complete, but your story of love and laughter will echo in our hearts for eternity.
