Ellenor Ruth Collins, a cherished mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully on May 31, 2026, at the Carpenter House after a courageous battle with cancer. Born on December 31, 1955, in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, Ellenor, affectionately known as Ruth, was a beacon of strength and kindness, whose life was a testament to resilience, dedication, and love.
Ruth was the beloved daughter of the late Annie Collins and was predeceased by her dear sisters: Estella Bailey, Elizabeth Collins, and Mary Collins. She is survived by her loving daughter, Candace Collins, and her treasured granddaughter, Adriana Taylor, who were the light of her life and her greatest pride. Her legacy of love and compassion also lives on through her siblings, Barbara Carter, Arlene Batiste, Evelyn Richardson, Rita Walls, Albert Collins, and Shirley (Freddie) Robinson, along with a host of devoted nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Ruth's educational journey saw her achieve a certificate of achievement from Cohn High School, a testament to her dedication to learning and self-improvement. Her work ethic and commitment were evident in her over 20 years of service at the St. Vincent de Paul store, where she was known for her warm smile and generous spirit. She touched the lives of many through her work, offering a kind word and a helping hand to those in need.
A faithful member of St. John Baptist Church, Ruth found strength and solace in her faith. Her church community was a significant part of her life, providing her with fellowship and joy throughout the years.
A celebration of Ruth's remarkable life will be held on June 13, 2026, at 11:00 AM at St. John Baptist Church, located at 4225 Mulatto Bend Road, Port Allen, Louisiana 70767. Family and friends are invited to gather in remembrance of her enduring spirit and the joy she brought into the world.
The Collins family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the caregivers at the Carpenter House for their kind and comforting care during Ruth's final days. Their compassion and support provided immense comfort as she prepared for her heavenly journey home.
