Ellen Marie Richmond, a beloved mother, grandmother, sister,aunt, and friend, passed away peacefully on August 31, 2026, at the age of 93. Born on July 18, 1933, in the serene town of Grand Junction, Colorado, Ellen lived a life filled with love, hard work, and unwavering dedication to her family and community. As a devoted school custodian in Oregon, Ellen took immense pride in maintaining a nurturing environment for the children and staff. Her work was more than just a job; it was her way of ensuring that the school was a safe and welcoming place for all. Ellen's dedication and tireless work ethic left a lasting impact on everyone who had the privilege of knowing her. Ellen's warm heart and gentle spirit were evident in her many hobbies and interests. She found great joy in gardening, spending countless hours tending to her vibrant flowers and lush greenery. Her talent for quilting was renowned, with each stitch crafted with love and care, creating cherished keepsakes for her family and friends. Ellen had an insatiable curiosity for solving puzzles and a love for reading that transported her to distant lands and times, fueling her imagination and enriching her soul. Family was at the core of Ellen's life. She is survived by her loving daughter, Patricia Smyth, who was a constant source of pride and joy for Ellen. She leaves behind four granddaughters, seven great grandchildren, and 2 great great grandchildren. Each of whom held a special place in her heart. Ellen's siblings, Barbara Arvilla, Linda Beckham, Michael Gitchell, and Curtis Gitchell, along with her many nephews and nieces, will dearly miss her. Ellen will be buried September 9, 2026, at Fir Grove Cemetery in Cottage Grove, Oregon. Ellen Marie Richmond's life was a testament to the power of kindness, hard work, and family. She leaves behind a legacy of love that will be cherished by all who knew her. Her grace and wisdom will be deeply missed, but her spirit will live on in the hearts of those she loved.
