Ellen H. Voss, a beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully on August 7, 2026, after a short illness. Born on February 18, 1948, in the bustling city of New York, NY, Ellen was the cherished daughter of Bernard and Muriel Sherman.
From a young age, Ellen exuded a warmth and kindness that endeared her to all who knew her. She grew up in a family that valued love and togetherness, traits that she carried throughout her life. In 1968, Ellen married the love of her life, William H. Voss Sr., on April 28. Together, they built a beautiful life filled with love and laughter until his passing.
Ellen dedicated 20 years to her role as an Operations Clerk at Yellow Freight System in Maybrook, NY. Her colleagues remember her as a diligent and compassionate team member, always willing to lend a helping hand and offer words of encouragement.
Family was at the heart of Ellen’s world. She was a devoted mother to her children, Danielle & Edward Williams Jr., William H. & Kelly Voss Jr., and Scott M. Voss, who carry on her legacy of kindness and strength. Ellen was also a loving grandmother to her twelve grandchildren: Lee Williams, Kasey Williams, Christopher & Allison Voss, Brandon & Grace Voss, Emily Caswell, Cody & Michaelann Waizenegger, Elizabeth & Bryan Wilson, and Emily Carroll. Her seven great-grandchildren, Hunter, JayLynn, Jordyn, Oaklyn, Romey, Mars, and Adam, were a source of boundless joy and pride for her.
Preceded in death by her husband, William H. Voss Sr., daughter-in-law Heather Voss, and dear cousin Stacie Weiner, Ellen remained a pillar of strength and guidance for her family. Her nurturing spirit and unwavering support will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
A service to celebrate Ellen’s life will be held on August 12, 2026. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to a charity of your choice, reflecting Ellen’s generous and giving nature.
Ellen H. Voss leaves behind a legacy of love, compassion, and resilience. Her memory will forever be cherished by her family and friends, whose lives she touched with her gentle spirit. May her soul rest in eternal peace.
