Ella Mae Smith, affectionately known to many as "Mammy," passed away peacefully at the age of 87 at Eufaula Manor Nursing Home. Born on November 2, 1938, in Wilburton, Oklahoma, Ella graced the world with her presence and left an indelible mark on everyone she met.
Ella was the beloved daughter of James and Vivian Collins, who instilled in her the values of love, compassion, and resilience. She was predeceased by her parents, her son Christoph Todd Smith, her brothers Roy, Harold, and Son, and her sisters Linda, Glenda, and Mayzell. Despite these profound losses, Ella's spirit remained unyielding, a testament to her strength and character.
A devoted mother and grandmother, Ella dedicated her life to nurturing her family. Her children, Randy and Laura Smith, Greg Smith, and Jeff Smith and Shannon Mann, all residing in Porum, Oklahoma, were the joy of her life. Ella also cherished her many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and an extended family of nieces and nephews. Her home was always filled with laughter, warmth, and the aroma of her home-cooked meals, which were as nourishing as her love.
Ella had a passion for painting and gardening, reveling in the beauty of creation both on canvas and in her backyard. She was an avid cat lover, finding companionship and solace in their gentle purrs. Sewing was another of her cherished pastimes, and her family proudly wore and displayed the fruits of her labor, each stitch sewn with love and precision.
A true role model, Ella was known for her unwavering support, her attentive listening ear, and her boundless love. She was a beacon of light to her family, friends, and community, embodying the virtues of kindness and patience. Her legacy is one of love and grace, qualities that will continue to inspire those who were fortunate enough to know her.
A service to honor and celebrate Ella's life will be held on September 8, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at King & Shearwood Funeral Home, located at 808 E Main, Stigler, Oklahoma. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to a charity of your choice, reflecting Ella's generous and giving spirit.
Her family wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude to all who have shared in Ella's life. As they say goodbye to their beloved Mammy, they find comfort in the memories they hold dear. Ella Mae Smith will be truly missed by all who knew her, and her spirit will live on in the hearts of those she touched.
