She was surrounded by the gentle care of Wildewood Nursing Home in Oklahoma City, a place she had called home in her later years. Born on September 25, 1951, in Oklahoma City, Ella was a beloved daughter of the late Aline and Jimmie Lee Gordon. Ella's life was a vibrant tapestry woven with love, resilience, and a spirit that could light up any room. Her quick wit and infectious smile were her trademarks, often leaving those around her in fits of laughter. She had an innate ability to find joy in the little things, a gift she generously shared with her family and friends. A proud graduate of Cromwell High School, Ella went on to lead a fulfilling career as a cook and waitress, eventually dedicating her compassionate heart to serving others as an aide in a nursing home. Her professional journey was a testament to her dedication and unwavering kindness. Family was the cornerstone of Ella's life. She was a devoted wife to her loving husband, Hayward Eugene McGregor, and the proud mother of sons Benjamin and Tony Gordon. Her life was further enriched by the presence of her sister, Yvonne White, and her daughter-in-law, Ashley McGregor-Combs. Ella's legacy of love continues through her 15 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren, who will forever hold her memory close. Ella's family finds comfort in knowing she is now reunited with her predeceased loved ones, including her parents, Aline and Jimmie Lee Gordon, her cherished children, Rhonda LaShawn Gordon, Randell Roshawn Gordon, and Preston Shavar McGregor, and her brothers, Leroy and Jimmie Lee Gordon Jr. A woman of diverse interests, Ella found joy in playing bingo, solving puzzles, and spending quality time with her family. Her bond with her sister and friends was unbreakable, and their countless gatherings were filled with laughter and warmth. A service to celebrate Ella's remarkable life will be held on August 1, 2026, at Wildewood Baptist Church, located at 60 NE 63rd, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to Wildewood Baptist Church, Inc., in Oklahoma City, as a tribute to Ella's enduring faith and community spirit. The McGregor family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the staff at Wildewood Nursing Home for their compassionate care and to the members of Wildewood Baptist Church for their unwavering support during this time. Ella Mae McGregor will be remembered for her love, laughter, and the indelible mark she left on the hearts of all who knew her.
