July 16, 1958 – May 25, 2026 It is with profound sadness and humble gratitude for a life well-lived that we announce the passing of Ella Mae Johnson, who departed this world peacefully on May 25, 2026, at Los Angeles Community Hospital. Born in the warm embrace of Crystal Springs, Mississippi, on July 16, 1958, Ella's journey was marked by love, faith, and unwavering dedication to her family and community. Ella was the cherished daughter of the late Will T. Harris and Edna M. Harris, who instilled in her the values of compassion and resilience. She is predeceased by her beloved sister, Lillian Merle Harris, with whom she shared an unbreakable bond throughout their lives. Ella's legacy of love continues through her devoted children: Katrina Johnson of California City, CA; Angela Johnson of Jackson, MS; Kendra Tyler of Edwards, MS; Kelvin Sampson of College Park, GA; Zander Johnson of Southaven, MS; Jamarious Johnson of Pearl, MS; and Johnny Lewis Jr. of Edwards, MS. Her memory will be cherished by her 22 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren, who brought immense joy and pride to her heart. Ella's family extends beyond her immediate lineage, including her dear cousins and friends who were like family: Elver Moore, Betty Neal, Shirley (James) Price, Alma Garrett, Dorothy (Bill) Liggins, Mary Ann (Lawrence) Huff, John Harris, Robert Harris, and James (Jessica) Shannon. Each of them holds a special place in Ella's story, having shared countless moments of laughter and love. A proud member of Bethlehem Baptist Church, Ella found solace and strength within her faith community. She was a fixture at the church, where she not only worshipped but also extended her kindness and support to all who knew her. Ella's love for playing softball was a testament to her vibrant spirit and zest for life, and she often reminisced about the camaraderie and joy the game brought her. A service to celebrate Ella's remarkable life will be held on June 6, 2026, at 1:00 PM at Bethlehem Baptist Church, located at 2844 Smith Station Rd, Edwards, MS 39066. Family, friends, and all whose lives were touched by Ella are invited to gather in her honor, to share memories and find comfort in the legacy she leaves behind. The family wishes to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the staff at Los Angeles Community Hospital for the compassionate care they provided to Ella in her final days. Their kindness and dedication were a source of immense comfort during a difficult time. Ella Mae Johnson's life was a testament to love, faith, and the enduring power of family. Her warmth and kindness will forever be remembered, and her spirit will continue to guide those she leaves behind. Though she is no longer with us, her legacy lives on in the hearts of all who knew her. Rest in peace, dear Ella, in the arms of the angels.
