Elizabeth "Snookie" Mentzer, a beloved member of the community, passed away peacefully on August 27, 2026, at the age of 82. Born on November 30, 1943, in the quaint town of Broad Run, Maryland, Snookie's life was a tapestry woven with love, creativity, and dedication. Snookie was the cherished daughter of the late Thomas and Louise Huffer Hagan. Growing up in a nurturing and loving environment, she was surrounded by the warmth of family, which she carried throughout her life. She was predeceased by her parents, her devoted husband Thomas Mentzer, her brother Harlan Hagan, and her sister Freda Leopold. Snookie was a proud graduate of Middletown High School and further honed her skills at the Hagerstown Beauty School. Her passion for beauty and style led her to own and operate Modern Miss Beauty Salon and Snookie's Hair Salon, where she touched many lives with her talent and infectious smile. Her artistic flair extended beyond hairstyling, as she was also an imaginative cake decorator whose creations brought joy to countless celebrations. Her career path took a heartfelt turn when she became a bus aide for special needs students in Loudoun County. In this role, Snookie's kindness and nurturing nature shone brightly, earning her the affectionate admiration of students and colleagues alike. Snookie was a dedicated member of Zion Lutheran Church in Lovettsville, Virginia, where her faith and sense of community were nurtured. Her hobbies included painting and various crafts, pursuits that reflected her boundless creativity and zest for life. Above all, she cherished the moments spent with her family and friends, particularly her grandchildren, who were the light of her life. Snookie is survived by her loving daughters, Linda Mentzer and Suzanne Mentzer-Rupp, and Suzanne's husband Rick. Her legacy continues in the hearts of her eight grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren, who will forever remember her contagious laugh and helping nature. She is also survived by her sister, Lynne Minnick, with whom she shared a lifelong bond of sisterly love and support.
