With heavy hearts and a profound sense of loss, we announce the passing of Elizabeth Proctor, a beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, who departed this world peacefully on October 13, 1712, at the age of 62. Elizabeth's journey began on April 2, 1650, in Lynn, Massachusetts, born to loving parents Captain William Bassett Sr. and Sarah Burt. Her life was a testament to love, resilience, and unwavering dedication to her family. Elizabeth's life was enriched by her marriage to the late John Proctor, whom she wed on April 1, 1672. Together, they created a nurturing home filled with love and warmth until John's untimely passing in 1693. Though faced with the challenges of widowhood, Elizabeth continued to be the cornerstone of her family, dedicating her life to the upbringing and care of their three cherished children: Able, Marie, and Cilie. A devoted stay-at-home mother, Elizabeth's days were spent tending to her household and nurturing her children, instilling in them the values of family, love, and perseverance. Her hands were seldom idle, as she took great joy in sewing and knitting clothes for her family, a tangible expression of her love and care. Elizabeth's kitchen was always filled with the comforting aroma of homemade meals and baked goods, her culinary talents adding a special flavor to family gatherings. Elizabeth's legacy extends through her children, who continue to uphold the family traditions she so lovingly established. Her presence will be deeply missed by her eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren, who were fortunate to experience her boundless love and guidance. A service to honor Elizabeth's life will be held on October 20, 1712, at 3:30 p.m. at the Salem Village Meetinghouse, located at Forest St, Danvers, MA 01923.
