It is with heavy hearts and profound sadness that we announce the passing of Elizabeth Ann Sloan, a beloved daughter, sister, mother, grandmother, and friend to many, who left us on June 25, 2026. Elizabeth, affectionately known as Liz to those who cherished her, was born on November 25, 1967, in South Bend, Indiana. Her life was a beacon of warmth and kindness, characterized by her unwavering dedication to family and the children she nurtured throughout her career. Elizabeth was the cherished daughter of Betty L Chase, Herbert Sloan, and Simuel Chase. She was predeceased by her beloved grandmother, Elizabeth Gandy, her grandfather, Joseph Gandy, and her son, Demetrius Sloan, who passed away shortly before her on July 11th. Despite the heartache of recent losses, Elizabeth’s spirit remained resilient, and her love for her family was steadfast and unwavering. Elizabeth is survived by her significant other, Addonnis, who stood by her side through all of life’s trials and triumphs. Her daughters, Qinita and China, carry forward her legacy of love and compassion. Her cherished grandchildren, Jayla, Harley, Kaycie, and Maliyah, will forever hold their grandmother’s memory in their hearts. Elizabeth is also survived by her brothers, Keith and Tyrone, her sister, Schnell, and her parents, Betty, Simuel, and Herbert. Her family was the heart of her world, and she was their guiding light. A proud graduate of LaSalle High School in 1979, Elizabeth furthered her education at Tarrant County Community College, earning her associate's degree in 1985. Her passion for nurturing and educating young minds led her back to her roots, where she worked alongside her aunt in South Bend. She later returned to Texas, dedicating her career to early childhood education as an Early Head Start teacher. Her commitment to fostering a love of learning in young children was a testament to her generous spirit and dedication to making a difference. Elizabeth’s hobbies were a reflection of her vibrant personality. She found joy in shopping, whether online or in stores, and had a keen eye for interior design, constantly transforming her home into a haven of comfort and style. In her moments of solitude, she relished solving crossword puzzles and coloring, pastimes that reflected her love for creativity and mindfulness. Known for her sweet, loving nature and infectious laughter, Elizabeth had a knack for bringing people together. She was renowned for her generosity, often putting others before herself, and she delighted in cooking for family gatherings. Her home was always filled with warmth, love, and the aroma of her delicious meals. A celebration of Elizabeth’s life will be held on July 18, 2026, at 9:00 AM at Zahoran Funeral Home, located at 1826 Kemble Ave, South Bend, IN 46613. Family and friends are invited to gather and honor the remarkable life of a woman who touched so many hearts. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in Elizabeth's memory to the South Bend organization, a cause close to her heart and reflective of her lifelong dedication to children and families. Though Elizabeth Ann Sloan may no longer be with us in body, her spirit will forever remain in the hearts of those she loved. She leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and a commitment to nurturing those around her. Her memory will be cherished, and her presence deeply missed.
