Elisabeth “Libby” Joi-Reena Tillman

November 20, 1980 — July 2, 2026

It is with great sadness but profound gratitude for a life well-lived that we announce the “Joyous Celebration” for our dear Elisabeth "Libby" Joi-Reena Tillman, who departed this world on July 2, 2026. Born on November 20, 1980, in St. Louis, Missouri, Libby was a beacon of light and love to all who were fortunate enough to know her. Libby was the cherished daughter of Bishop Willie and the late Vanessa Tillman. She has now rejoined her beloved mother, brother Willie Jr and several dear family members who predeceased her. Her legacy of love and laughter continues through her surviving family: her father, Bishop Willie Tillman; her beloved sisters, Stephanie, Angela, Willona, Kimberly, Michelle, and other siblings; her beloved brother Jerry and Carlos; her adored nieces Ashley, Pashia, Demi, Olivia, Kinnady, and LoveLee, along with adored nephews Austinbeau and Khyriek. She is also remembered fondly by a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, great-nieces, & nephews, and countless others who held her close to their hearts. A proud graduate of Pattonville Sr High School, Libby carried the values of education, kindness, and community with her throughout her life. Her faith was a cornerstone of her being, as she was a devoted member of The Church Of God In Christ Congregational Church. Her involvement in the church was not just an obligation but a passion, as she used her gifts to minister and bring souls to Christ, leaving an indelible mark on her congregation. Elisabeth, known affectionately by many names including "Tiggi," "Libby Loo," and "Wibbi," had a remarkable ability to bring joy to others. She was renowned for her infectious laughter, her love of singing, cooking, shopping, and traveling. Her vibrant spirit and generous heart touched everyone around her, creating memories and a legacy that will be cherished forever. In honoring Libby's wishes, a private “Joyous Memorial” service will be held, and attended by her closest family and friends. The family expresses their sincere gratitude for the outpouring of prayers, condolences, and contributions during this time. A special acknowledgment is extended to the Granite City COGIC Congregational Church for graciously hosting Elisabeth's beautiful and joyous celebration of life. In lieu of flowers, those who wish to honor Libby's memory may consider making a donation to a charity of their choice, reflecting her own spirit of giving and compassion. As we remember Libby, let us carry forward her legacy of love, family, laughter, and faith, keeping her spirit alive in our hearts and actions forever! #LongLiveLibbyLoo

Poem / Prayer

Don't grieve for me, for now I'm free, I took His hand when I heard Him call, I turned my back and left it all. I could not stay another day, To laugh, to love, to work, to play. Tasks left undone must stay that way, I found that peace at the close of day. If my parting has left a void, Then fill it with remembered joy. A friendship shared, a laugh, a kiss, Ah, yes, these things I too will miss. Be not burdened with times of sorrow, I wish you the sunshine of tomorrow. My life's been full, I savored much, Good friends, good times, a loved one's touch. Perhaps my time seemed all too brief, Don't lengthen it now with undue grief. Lift up your hearts and peace to thee, God wanted me now; He set me free.
