Elijah J. Robinson, affectionately known as "Turk," passed away peacefully on September 6, 2026, surrounded by his loving family. Born on December 10, 1945, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Turk was a man of immense warmth, humor, and generosity, cherished by all who knew him. Turk was the beloved husband of Darlene Glass Robinson, with whom he shared 61 beautiful years of marriage. Their love story began in 1964, and from their union came two devoted daughters, Donna and Linda Robinson. Turk's legacy is carried on by his six grandchildren: Shavon, Dena, Lewis Barrett, Daniel, and Javaughn Robinson. His great-grandchildren, Bella, Dalani, Ariana, Ariyah, Mewis (E.J), Elijah, and Carter, were his pride and joy, and he took great delight in watching them grow. A proud graduate of Benjamin Franklin High School's Class of 1962, Turk was dedicated to continuous learning. He pursued further education in welding, air conditioning and refrigeration, tractor-trailer operation, and completed college courses. His hands were never idle; he loved building and repairing things, a testament to his resourcefulness and commitment to self-improvement. Turk's passions extended beyond his professional pursuits. He had a deep love for music and classic Western movies. He was an exceptional cook and baker, often treating family and friends to his culinary creations. His home was always open, a place of warmth where laughter was abundant. Spending time with family and helping others were his greatest joys. Known for his loving spirit and delightful sense of humor, Turk had a personality that was larger than life. Though he could be a little rough around the edges, his heart was always in the right place, and he shared his kindness generously with everyone he met. His legacy of love and laughter will live on in the hearts of those who were fortunate to know him. He leaves behind cherished godchildren Neeva, Robert, Talehia, and Tavon, as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members, friends, and many adopted sons and daughters, all of whom were touched by his gentle spirit. Turk was predeceased by Jasean Robinson and Lewis Barrett Robinson, who undoubtedly greeted him with open arms. A service to celebrate Turk's remarkable life will be held on September 25, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at Pickens Funeral Home, located at 1605 N. 21st St, Philadelphia, PA 19121.
