June 29, 2003 — June 11, 2026

With deep sorrow and profound love, we announce the passing of our beloved son, brother, nephew, uncle and friend, Elijah Chavez, who left us far too soon on June 11, 2026, at the tender age of 22. Born on June 29, 2003, in Albuquerque, New Mexico, Elijah's life, though short, was filled with warmth, laughter, and love that touched everyone who had the privilege to know him. Elijah faced the challenges of epilepsy with unwavering courage and resilience. Despite the battles he fought, he remained a beacon of light and hope for his family and friends, embodying the true spirit of a fighter until his final day. A devoted son to Jennifer and Pete Chavez, Elijah's heart was as expansive as the New Mexico skies under which he was born. He cherished his family deeply, sharing a unique bond with his sisters, Savannah and Delilah, who will forever carry his memory in their hearts. Elijah was also a loving uncle to Gabriel, Serenity, and Anesme, delighting in their laughter and joy, and always eager to offer a guiding hand or a comforting hug. Elijah was a man of many talents and a lifelong learner. He embraced every job and opportunity as a chance to grow and explore new trades, demonstrating a work ethic that was both inspiring and commendable. His colleagues and mentors remember him as a dedicated worker who brought enthusiasm and curiosity to every task. At the heart of Elijah's life was his love for family and friends. He found true joy in the simple pleasures of life, whether gathering with loved ones for a meal, sharing stories, or lending a helping hand. Elijah's kindness and selflessness knew no bounds; he always put others first, offering his support without hesitation and ensuring those around him felt safe, heard, and cared for. Elijah's laughter was infectious, his smile radiant, and his presence had the remarkable ability to light up any room. Those fortunate enough to have shared in his life will remember him as a pure soul, a one-of-a-kind spirit whose warmth and generosity left an indelible mark on all who knew him. Though our hearts are heavy with grief, we find solace in the cherished memories Elijah leaves behind. He is preceded in death by his beloved Grandma, Connie Burns, and his dear Uncle, Joseph Garcia, whose reunion we can only imagine is filled with love and peace. A celebration of Elijah's life will be held on July 2, 2026, at 9:00 AM at Trujillos Family Funeral Home, located at 110 Alvarado Dr SE, Albuquerque, NM 87108. We invite all who knew and loved Elijah to join us in honoring his remarkable life and legacy. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to support families and communities facing similar battles, continuing Elijah's legacy of kindness and compassion. The Chavez family extends their deepest gratitude to everyone who has offered support and love during this difficult time. Elijah was a truly special individual who deserved the world and more. He will forever be in our hearts and will live on through the memories we share. Our final goodbye is not the end but a reminder of the blessing it was to have had him in our lives. Elijah, you are forever loved.
