Eli Ray Ribich

January 24, 1941 — June 24, 2026

Eli Ray Ribich, a cherished husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away peacefully on June 24, 2026. Born on January 24, 1941, in Hamtramck, Michigan, Eli's life was a tapestry of love, dedication, and quiet strength. Eli was born into a loving home with his parents, Rade Ray Ribich and Dorothy Ribich, who predeceased him. He carried their legacy forward with grace and integrity. Eli pursued his education with a fervent desire to make a difference, graduating from Wayne State University with a teaching degree that would lay the foundation for decades of inspiring young minds. In 1965, Eli married the love of his life, Gail Dawn Burkhart, on a warm summer day, July 10th. Together, they built a life rooted in love and mutual respect, embodying a partnership that was admired by all who knew them. Eli and Gail were blessed with a family that became the center of their world: their children, Gretchen Pullar and Scott Pullar, who brought them immense joy and pride. Their legacy continued to flourish with their grandchildren, Christopher Malcom, Carynne & David Evens, Taylor Pullar, and Cynthia Benitz, and great-grandchildren, Rader & Kaia Evens and Parker Pullar, each of whom held a special place in Eli's heart. Eli's career path took him into the National Guard in the late 1960s, where he served his country with honor. His true calling, however, was in education, where he was known for his patience, kindness, and unwavering support for his students. Eli's impact as a teacher and coach was profound; he was a steadfast mentor who offered a listening ear and wise counsel to all who needed it. Outside of his professional life, Eli found solace and joy in the simple pleasures of fishing and gardening. The tranquility of nature mirrored his calm and nurturing spirit, and he often shared these passions with his family and friends. The community will gather to celebrate Eli's life on August 22, 2026, at 2:00 PM in the Petersburg High School Gym. It is in this space, where he touched so many lives, that his legacy will be honored. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to the Petersburg High School Basketball Program, an organization close to Eli's heart and reflective of his lifelong commitment to youth and education. Eli Ray Ribich's life was a testament to the power of kindness, dedication, and love. He leaves behind a legacy of cherished memories, and his spirit will continue to guide and inspire all those who were fortunate to know him.
