In Loving Memory of Elesha Brooke Draeger
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Elesha Brooke Draeger, a cherished wife, mother, daughter, sister, and friend, who left us on July 1, 2026, at the age of 48. Elesha was born in Pittsburg, Kansas, on September 2, 1977, to Frederick J. and Molly (Kieselbach) Allen.
Elesha's life was a testament to compassion, resilience, and love. She was educated at Columbus Unified High School, graduating as her class Salutatorian in 1996, and continued her studies at Pittsburg State University, where she completed her bachelor's degree in nursing in 1999. Driven by her passion for healthcare, Elesha achieved her master's degree in 2005, becoming a respected nurse practitioner.
Her career was marked by dedication and service across various medical fields, from pediatrics to geriatrics. Elesha served in numerous rural hospitals, including Mt. Carmel in Pittsburg, Freeman and St. John's Hospital in Joplin, and others. The final and perhaps most fulfilling chapter of her career was the creation and operation of her own clinic, Catalyst Wellness, in Oswego, Kansas.
On November 29, 1997, Elesha married the love of her life, Ben R. Draeger, in a heartfelt ceremony at the Presbyterian Church in Scammon, Kansas. Together, they built a beautiful life and raised two children, Cameron D. Draeger and Katelyn M. Draeger, who were her pride and joy.
Elesha was a devoted member of the Center Christian Church in Columbus, Kansas, since the early 1990s. Her faith was a cornerstone of her life, guiding her through challenges and triumphs alike. She also dedicated her time and expertise to Camp Cortisol at Children's Harbor in Alabama, serving as an organizer, educator, and camp nurse, offering hope and education to families affected by Adrenal Insufficiency, a condition she bravely managed herself.
Her zest for life was expressed through her adventurous spirit and love for the ocean. Whether basking under the sun or exploring the depths while scuba diving, the sea was her sanctuary. Elesha was also an avid runner, participating in countless races and inspiring others with her courage and determination.
Elesha's warmth and intelligence touched everyone she met. Her innovative approach to patient care and her commitment to finding solutions for those in need were the hallmarks of her professional life. Her legacy is one of love, kindness, and a tireless pursuit of excellence.
Elesha is survived by her beloved husband, Ben; her adoring children, Cameron and Katelyn; her mother, Molly M. Allen, and stepfather, Robert; her brother, Blake Allen; aunts Carole Sue Thornton and Alberta Flowers; uncles Tom Allen and Wayne L. Kieselbach; and nephew Kyle Kieselbach. She was predeceased by her father, Fred Allen, and her grandparents, James and Helen Allen, and Robert and Bonnie Jo Kieselbach.
A celebration of Elesha's life will be held on July 24, 2026, at 2:00 PM at the Center Christian Church, 3150 SW Center Rd, Columbus, Kansas.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made in Elesha's memory to Camp Cortisol or Center Christian Church, reflecting her life's passion and commitment to caring for others.
Elesha's light will continue to shine brightly in the hearts of all who knew her, and her impact on the world will be felt for generations to come.
