It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Elenora Victoria Jonas, a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and cherished friend, who departed this life peacefully at her home on September 18, 2026, after a courageous battle with diabetes. Born on April 10, 1929, in the United Kingdom, Elenora graced the world with her presence for 97 remarkable years.
Elenora was a beacon of light and love, known for her quick wit and warm smile, which could brighten even the darkest of days. Her gift for making everyone feel welcome and valued was legendary, and her kindness and generosity touched countless lives. Always ready with a joke to lighten the mood, Elenora had a unique way of bringing joy to those around her.
Her life was a testament to service and dedication. For 30 years, she worked as a receptionist, and later she pursued a career in nursing, serving for 20 years alongside Dr. Winston Ramsay at Halberton Hospital. Elenora's commitment to her work and the care she provided to others was a reflection of her boundless compassion.
A devoted member of St. Luke’s Anglican Church, Elenora was actively involved as the Director of the St. Boniface Choir and the Mothers Union. Her faith was an integral part of her life, providing her with strength and guiding her actions.
Elenora was also a talented seamstress, sharing her skills with the students of Princess Margret Primary School, and she took great pleasure in tending her vegetable and flower gardens. Her love for cooking Caribbean cuisine brought her family together, creating cherished memories around the dining table.
She was predeceased by her sister Nicole Jonas, daughter Arlene Barnes, and son Clarefoster Heskey. She leaves behind a legacy of love through her surviving children, Cynthia Ramsay, Devon Gomes, and St. Clair Philip, her 13 grandchildren, including Dwight, Tresa, Tayena, Shameka, Kevorn, Prince, Dianne, Nadia, Tia, Laura, William, Shakeba, and Carissa, and her 13 great-grandchildren, including Noah, Naima, Naseem, Cassidy, Dequan, Ricardo, Leonna, Leondre, Durwin, Camiyah, Najae’, Jalil, and Julius.
A service to celebrate Elenora's life will be held on October 14, 2026, at 14:00 at St Thomas à Becket Church, located in Fairfield, Romney Marsh, Kent. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to the Daughters Of The British Empire and The British Diabetic Association, organizations close to Elenora's heart.
The family of the late Elenora Victoria Jonas wishes to express heartfelt thanks to all who offered condolences, called, and provided prayerful support during this time of grief. Your kindness is deeply appreciated and will be remembered.
Elenora's spirit will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew her, as we celebrate a life well-lived and cherish the indelible mark she left upon the world.
