Eleanor was a beacon of warmth and kindness in the lives of all who knew her. Her life was a testament to love, compassion, and dedication to family and community. She was preceded in death by her cherished husband, Robert Thompson, with whom she shared a devoted marriage of 52 years, and her dear brother, William Thompson.
Eleanor is survived by her loving children, Michael Thompson and his wife Sarah, and Karen Mitchell and her husband David. She adored her five grandchildren, who brought immense joy to her life, and was delighted by the arrival of her two great-grandchildren, whose presence filled her with boundless happiness. Her sister, Patricia Davis, also survives her, sharing countless memories and an enduring sisterly bond.
Eleanor's life was filled with passion and purpose. A proud alumna of the University of Texas at Austin, she earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in 1970, the same year she married her beloved Robert. Her career as an elementary school teacher at Westlake Elementary spanned three decades, where she inspired young minds and left a lasting impact on her students before retiring in 2008.
In addition to her professional endeavors, Eleanor was an active member of the First Baptist Church, the Austin Garden Club, and the Retired Teachers Association. Her dedication to her community was evident in her many contributions, from her beautifully tended gardens to the delicious pies she baked for church socials.
Eleanor's gentle spirit and warm smile were a comfort to all. Her generous nature and ability to make everyone feel welcome were hallmarks of her character. She found joy in the simple pleasures of life, especially in her love for gardening and watercolor painting, where she expressed her creativity and love for beauty.
