Eleanor Elizabeth Brown, a beacon of love, kindness, and resilience, passed away peacefully on July 4th, 2026. Born on October 29th, 1952, in Los Angeles, California, Eleanor was the cherished daughter of Luther and Dorothy Austin. Her life's journey was one of unwavering dedication to family, friends, and community. Eleanor's early years were spent in the vibrant city of Los Angeles. She graduated from Manual Arts High School in 1970, where her passion for beauty and style blossomed. Pursuing her dream, she enrolled in beauty college, becoming a beloved beautician who spent over two decades bringing out the best in everyone she touched. In 1972, Eleanor married her high school sweetheart, Joseph Henry Douglas Jr. Together, they built a family full of love and laughter, welcoming four wonderful sons. Even after a dissolved marriage of 12 years, Eleanor's strength and grace shone brightly. In 1985, she found love again with Bernard Brown, with whom she shared 18 years of marriage, before his untimely death. Eleanor’s nurturing spirit extended beyond her family. She transitioned from beautician to becoming an Administrator for Adult Residential Facilities, dedicating over 20 years to the care and well-being of others. Her compassionate nature was evident in every role she undertook, including her later pursuit of medical billing, a venture she was excited to complete in September 2026. Her hobbies reflected her vibrant personality. Eleanor loved to cook and bake, often filling her home with the aroma of her culinary creations while the soulful tunes of Luther Vandross and Angie Stone played in the background. Her creativity shone through in the beautifully crafted gift baskets she designed for every occasion. Eleanor was predeceased by her beloved parents, her sister Andrea Laverne Austin, her husband Joseph Henry Douglas Jr., her eldest son Joseph Henry Douglas III, her second husband Bernard Brown, and her daughter-in-law Crystal Douglas. She is survived by her sister Kimoletha Louise Austin, her sons and their spouses: Brian Keith & Maria Douglas, Shaun Anthony & Maria Hunter-Douglas, and Corey Nathaniel Douglas. Her legacy continues through her ten grandchildren, Kiara, Tamera, Meleah, Kamryn, Kailoni, Noble, Christian, Christopher, Kawaui, Kayden, and her honorary grandson Timothy, as well as her three great-grandchildren, Melania, Myla, Legend, and soon to be baby boy Molina. Eleanor's warmth and generosity also touched the life of her goddaughter Judith, along with a host of other family and friends. Eleanor's smile could light up any room, and her sense of style was matched only by her loving heart. Known for her long nails and bold hairstyles, she was a fashion icon in her own right. Her home was a sanctuary for anyone in need, always welcoming with open arms and a heart full of gold. Eleanor Elizabeth Brown's life was a testament to love, compassion, and generosity. Her legacy will continue to inspire all who knew her. She will forever be missed, but her spirit will live on in the hearts of those she touched.
