It is with heavy hearts and fond memories that we announce the passing of Eldon "Smokey" Lytle, who departed this life on October 7, 2025, at the age of 69. Smokey was born on December 7, 1955, in the warm community of Anthony, Kansas, to his loving parents, Dalton "Ike" Lytle and V. "Ileen" Lytle.
Smokey's life was a tapestry of vibrant experiences, woven with threads of love, laughter, and resilience. He was predeceased by his cherished parents, Ike and Ileen, and his beloved brother, Robert "Bob" Lytle. The legacy of his spirit continues in the lives of his daughter, Heather Lytle; his grandson, Damian Lytle; his sister, Debra "Debbie" Battenburg; and his half-brothers, Johnny Yeary and Jerry Yeary.
Smokey's formative years were spent in Garden City, Kansas, where he graduated with pride and embarked on a career that showcased both his industrious nature and his ability to connect with others. His journey began as a vender delivery professional with renowned companies like Pepsi, Frito Lays, and Keebler, where he made lasting friendships and left a mark of dedication and hard work.
Outside of his career, Smokey's heart truly belonged to his family. He cherished every moment spent with them, finding joy in the simple pleasure of their company. Known for his spitfire personality, Smokey had a unique gift for making friends with anyone he met. His charisma was matched only by his unwavering courage to stand up for himself and his loved ones, a testament to his deep commitment to those he held dear.
His life will be celebrated in a service to be held on June 27, 2026, at 10:00 AM at Spring Grove, located at 111 KS-2, Anthony, KS 67003. This gathering will honor Smokey's life, the laughter he shared, and the love he spread in his time on Earth.
As we remember Smokey, let us celebrate the indelible mark he left on our hearts—a man who lived fully, loved deeply, and whose legacy will continue to inspire us all. His memory will forever remain a beacon of warmth and strength in the lives of those who knew and loved him.
