It is with heavy hearts and profound gratitude for a life well-lived that we announce the peaceful passing of Eldin Roper, beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and cherished friend. Eldin departed this world gently on February 22, 2026, at the age of 90. Born on August 4, 1935, in the beautiful district of Keith, St Ann, Jamaica, West Indies, Eldin was a pillar of strength and warmth to all who knew him. Eldin was the cherished son of Lester and Gladys Roper and was predeceased by his beloved parents, as well as all of his brothers and sisters. In his passing, he leaves behind a rich legacy of love and devotion to his family, who will miss him dearly. Eldin is survived by his devoted wife, Veleta Roper, who was his partner in life and love. Together, they built a family and life filled with joy, laughter, and shared memories. He leaves behind his children: Vida Evans, Glenmore Roper, Lavern Roper, Claire Roper, George Roper, and Baldwin Roper, who will forever hold their father's memory close to their hearts. Eldin’s family extended into the loving embrace of his 14 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren, who were each a source of pride and happiness in his life. Eldin relished his role as a grandfather, imparting wisdom and joy, and he will be remembered for his gentle spirit and infectious smile. A dedicated farmer worker, Eldin spent his life cultivating not just the land, but also nurturing the seeds of kindness and community. His work ethic and dedication were admired by many, and his contributions to his community will not be forgotten. Beyond his work, Eldin was a devout member of the Keith Baptist Church, where he found fellowship and spiritual fulfillment. Eldin had a profound love for music, and he found solace and joy in its melodies. Whether listening to his favorite tunes or playing the drums, music was a constant companion throughout his life. He also enjoyed the camaraderie and strategy of a good game of dominoes, where his competitive spirit and sharp mind shone brightly. The legacy Eldin leaves behind is one of unwavering love, boundless generosity, and a life lived with purpose and passion. His memory will be cherished by all who were fortunate enough to know him, and his spirit will continue to inspire us all. In honoring Eldin’s life, a service will be held at the Keith Baptist Church, where friends and family will gather to celebrate the remarkable life he lived. Details of the service will be shared at a later date. As we mourn the loss of Eldin Roper, let us also celebrate the profound impact he made on our lives. His kindness, wisdom, and love will forever remain in our hearts. Rest in peace, dear Eldin, knowing you have left this world a better place. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in Eldin’s memory to the Keith Baptist Church or a charity of your choice, to continue his legacy of giving and community support.
