Elaine F. Liscombe, a cherished mother, devoted wife, and beloved community member, passed away peacefully in her sleep on September 21, 2026, after a brief stay at Haywood Regional Hospital. Born on June 16, 1934, in Natick, Massachusetts, Elaine graced this world with her warmth, kindness, and unwavering spirit for 92 wonderful years.
Elaine grew up in Natick, where she developed a love for learning and an enthusiasm for athletics. She graduated from Natick High School and pursued her passion further by earning a Bachelor's degree in Physical Education from Boston University. Elaine dedicated her career to encouraging young people to find joy and discipline through sports and physical activity, inspiring many to achieve their personal bests.
Elaine shared an enduring love with her late husband, Kennith R. Liscombe. Together, they built a home filled with laughter, love, and cherished family memories. Elaine is survived by her devoted daughter, Cheryl Brillhart, and her loving son, David Liscombe. Her family was her pride and joy, and she reveled in the accomplishments and happiness of her children.
A woman of faith, Elaine was a committed member of the Shady Grove United Methodist Church. Her faith was an integral part of her life, guiding her actions and providing comfort and strength through life's challenges. Elaine was known for her compassionate heart and her readiness to lend a helping hand to those in need. Her community and church family will deeply miss her gentle presence and steadfast support.
A service to honor Elaine's remarkable life will be held on October 2, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Shady Grove United Methodist Church, located at 3570 Jonathan Creek Rd, Waynesville, NC 28785. Family, friends, and all whose lives Elaine touched are welcome to join in celebrating her remarkable journey.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to a charity of your choice in Elaine's memory. Her legacy of generosity and kindness will continue to inspire all who knew her.
