November 19, 1938 — June 25, 2026
Eileen Kirkpatrick (née Dalton), a beloved daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully on June 25, 2026, at the age of 87. Born on November 19, 1938, in the quaint town of Gooding, Idaho, Eileen's life was a tapestry of warmth, love, and dedication, woven together by her deep connections to family, faith, and community.
The cherished daughter of Albert and Selma Dalton, Eileen was welcomed into the world alongside her twin sister, Irene. The Dalton household was one of love and laughter, fostering a bond between Eileen and her siblings that would last a lifetime. Though predeceased by her parents and dear sister, Eileen's legacy continues through her surviving brother, Gary Albert Dalton, who shared in the many memories of their Idaho upbringing.
In 1959, Eileen married the love of her life, John Marshall Lewis, on a beautiful summer day in Jerome, Idaho. Together, they built a family rooted in love and devotion, raising three exceptional children: John Daniel Lewis (Karena), Jeffrey Dalton Lewis (Stefani), and Kathleen Lewis (Michael). Eileen's nurturing spirit and steadfast support made her an extraordinary mother, and she found immense joy in the lives of her four grandchildren: John Steven (Lauren) Lewis, Vanessa Kay Lewis, Jordan Marshall Lewis, and Lauren Lewis, as well as her three great-grandchildren. Her family was her greatest pride, and her love for them was boundless.
Eileen's professional life was marked by dedication and excellence. She devoted three decades to the State Auditors Office under Joe R. Williams, where her attention to detail and unwavering work ethic earned her the respect of colleagues and community alike. Later, she became a well-loved figure at the downtown Bon Marché in Boise, Idaho, representing Clinique with grace and charm for another 30 years. Her ability to connect with people from all walks of life was a testament to her quick wit and engaging personality.
An active member of the LDS Church throughout her life, Eileen's faith was a guiding light. Her commitment to her beliefs was matched only by her passion for genealogy, crafts, art, cooking, and baking. Eileen found solace and joy in the pages of over 200 hardbound books, many of which she generously donated to her local discount store, sharing her love of reading with others.
Eileen's life was a rich tapestry of experiences and relationships, underscored by her resilience and warmth. Her presence was a gift to all who knew her, her legacy one of love, kindness, and laughter. Her family wishes to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the staff at Shaw Mountain of Cascadia for the compassionate care Eileen received in her final days.
A private ceremony will be held to honor Eileen's life. In lieu of flowers, the family encourages donations to a local library or charity of choice, in keeping with Eileen's spirit of giving and community support.
Eileen Kirkpatrick will be remembered not only for the life she led but for the lives she touched. Her memory will endure in the hearts of her family and friends, who will forever cherish the love and wisdom she shared.
