Efrem Pernell Gaither, a cherished husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend, was called home on June 1, 2026, at the age of 63. Born in the warm embrace of Statesville, NC, on December 10, 1963, Efrem was a man of many talents and even greater heart. Efrem spent his formative years in the rolling hills of North Carolina, where he discovered a natural affinity for the arts. As a young teen, his drawing skills shone brightly, leading him to contribute to the mural at Davie High School—a testament to his keen eye and creative spirit. This artistic journey continued throughout his life as Efrem lent his talents to various businesses, enriching the community with his vibrant artwork. Beyond his passion for art, Efrem found joy in the hum of engines, working tirelessly on cars and motorcycles. This mechanical prowess was more than a hobby; it was a reflection of his desire to understand and improve the world around him. Efrem was a pillar of love and strength to his family. He shared 33 beautiful years of marriage with his beloved wife, Sarah Perkins Gaither, in Salisbury, NC. Together, they built a life filled with laughter, love, and unwavering support. Efrem's legacy lives on through his children: daughters Tekaira Chanelle Gaither of Georgia, Marissa Perkins of Mocksville, NC, and Abbey Gaither of Winston-Salem, NC; and sons Christopher Perkins of Richmond, VA, Theodore Welch of Mocksville, NC, Efrem Gaither, Jr. of Salisbury, and Alex Gaither of Winston-Salem, NC. He was also a proud grandfather to six adoring grandchildren, who were the light of his later years. Family was the cornerstone of Efrem's life, and his siblings were an integral part of his journey. He is survived by his brothers, Thomas Gaither, Sr. (Darlene) of Cleveland, NC, Ricky Gaither of Cleveland, NC, and Gregory Gaither of Statesville, NC; and sisters, Carla Gaither Hairston and Lisa Gaither, both of Salisbury, NC. Efrem was preceded in death by his beloved mother, Lillian Harlow Gaither, his sister Cynthia Denise Parks, and his brother Christopher Demond Gaither. Their memories were held close in his heart, and now he joins them in eternal peace. Throughout his life, Efrem's generous spirit extended beyond his family to the community. He was a man who believed in giving back, dedicating his later years to charitable endeavors. His compassion and kindness left an indelible mark on all who knew him. In honor of Efrem's wishes, a private ceremony will be held to celebrate his remarkable life. As we bid farewell to a man of great talent and even greater love, we find solace in the memories he leaves behind—a legacy of creativity, devotion, and boundless generosity. Efrem Pernell Gaither's light continues to shine in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know him, and his spirit will forever be a guiding force in the lives of his family and friends. May he rest in peace.
