It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Edwin Villanueva, a cherished soul whose vibrant spirit and unwavering kindness touched the lives of all who knew him. Edwin passed away on April 10, 2026, at the age of 53, after suffering from a stroke. His departure leaves a profound void in the hearts of his family, friends, and all who were fortunate to share in his journey. Born on February 15, 1973, in the vibrant town of Mayaguez, Puerto Rico, Edwin was a beloved son to Aidaluz and Miguel Villanueva. Growing up in a warm and nurturing environment, Edwin developed a deep sense of family values that he carried with him throughout his life. Although preceded in death by his cherished family member Maria Oquendo, he is survived by his loving children, Crystal and Alexander Villanueva, who were the pride and joy of his life. Edwin's familial bonds extended beyond his immediate family. He was adored by his siblings Ramon, Maria, Luis, Elizabeth, Miguel, Sonia, and Nancy, as well as his many nephews and nieces, cousins, aunts, and uncles. Each relationship he cultivated was a testament to his generous spirit and his unwavering devotion to family. In his professional life, Edwin served as a Maintenance Manager at Candlewoods Hotel, where he was known not only for his dedication and hard work but also for his kindness and willingness to lend a helping hand. His colleagues respected him immensely for his professionalism and his ability to bring warmth into the workplace. Outside of his career, Edwin found joy in a multitude of hobbies and interests. Music was a lifelong passion, and he loved sharing his talent by DJing online, captivating many viewers with his eclectic mixes. His enthusiasm for sports was infectious; he was a fervent supporter of the New York Giants, the Boston Celtics, and the New York Yankees. Wrestling was another of Edwin's passions, and he never missed a match, often sharing his excitement with those around him. Edwin also shared a deep and loving relationship with his girlfriend, Betsy, whose companionship brought joy and comfort to his life. Together, they embraced the everyday beauty of life, creating cherished memories that will last a lifetime. A celebration of Edwin's life will take place on April 16, 2026, at De Leon Funeral Home, located at 104 Main St, Hartford, CT 06106. The service will commence at 5:00 pm to 8:00pm He will be laid to rest at Mount Saint Benedict Cemetery 1 Cottage Grove Rd, Bloomfield, CT 06002 on April 17, 2026.
