Edward W. Gillin, Jr., a beloved son, father, and friend, passed away suddenly at home on August 25, 2026, at the age of 52. Born on November 26, 1973, in West Chester, Pennsylvania, Ed grew up in Downingtown, Pennsylvania. Ed was a beacon of kindness and generosity, leaving an indelible mark on everyone who had the privilege of knowing him. Ed was the cherished son of Edward and Mary Gillin. He was a devoted father to his four incredible children, Brianna, Will, Kate, and Luke, who were truly the lights of his life. Ed shared almost two decades of marriage with Dawn Gaffney Gillin, a partnership that brought joy and laughter, and together, they raised their beautiful family. In addition to his parents, Ed is survived by his siblings: Tom, Trish and Karen and numerous nieces and nephews. A proud graduate of Bishop Shanahan High School in 1992, Ed went on to earn a Bachelor's of Science degree in Business Admisistration from the University of Delaware in 1997. His career in the financial services industry showcased his dedication and work ethic, but it was his contributions outside of work that truly defined him. Ed was a pillar of his community, known for his unwavering willingness to help others. He was a devoted board member and volunteer with Avon Grove Wildcats Football, Lacrosse, and Field Hockey. As a coach with Avon Grove Little League, and a supportive presence in the home bleachers, Ed was a constant source of encouragement for young athletes. His generosity and kindness touched countless lives, and his legacy as a friend, mentor, and pillar of support will not be forgotten. Family and friends are invited to a visitation on September 2, 2026 from 6-8pm at the Longwood Funeral Home, 913 East Baltimore Pike, Kennett Square, PA 19348. A service to celebrate Ed's remarkable life will be held on September 3, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Gabriel of the Sorrowful Mother, located at 8910 Gap Newport Pike, Avondale, PA 19311. Burial will be private. The family kindly requests that no flowers be sent. Instead, a memorial trust has been established for his children, ensuring that Ed's nurturing spirit continues to support his beloved family. Edward W. Gillin, Jr.'s memory will forever be cherished by his family, friends, and all those whose lives he touched with his warm heart and generous spirit.
