Edward (Ted) H Grout
March 22, 1950 — June 2, 2000
In loving memory of Edward (Ted) H. Grout, who peacefully departed this world in his sleep on June 2, 2000, at the age of 50. Born on March 22, 1950, in Melrose, Massachusetts, Ted graced the world with his kindness, intelligence, and boundless love for his family and nature.
Ted was the cherished son of Kenneth and Merle Grout. He grew up surrounded by the warmth and love of his family, including his late brother, Richard (Dick) Grout. Ted's early education took place in Wakefield, Massachusetts, where he attended high school for two years before completing his secondary education at Berwick Academy. Always eager to learn and grow, he pursued higher education at Dean Junior College in Franklin, MA, and later graduated from Texas A&M University with a degree in Building Construction.
Ted's professional journey began in the construction industry, where he honed his skills and developed a reputation for integrity and excellence. In 1975, alongside his father, he embarked on a new venture, founding Tender Corporation in Littleton, New Hampshire. This family business became a cornerstone of his life, not only shaping his career but also introducing him to the love of his life, Lois Rothney. Ted and Lois met at Tender Corporation and were married in 1981, embarking on a partnership that would last a lifetime.
Together, Ted and Lois built their home in Littleton, a testament to their shared love for the outdoors and their dedication to creating a nurturing environment for their family. Ted's passion for nature was evident in all aspects of his life, from the way he cherished the great outdoors to the care he took in crafting a warm and inviting home.
Ted's legacy lives on through his beloved wife, Lois, his devoted daughter, Kylie Grout, and his treasured grandchildren, Ethan Gault and Sabella Phillips, who brought immense joy and pride to his life. He is also survived by his sister, Sharon, and her husband, Boyd Bush, who shared countless cherished memories with him over the years.
Throughout his life, Ted exemplified the values of love, family, and community. His gentle spirit and generous heart touched the lives of all who knew him. He was a man of few words, but his actions spoke volumes, leaving an indelible mark on everyone fortunate enough to cross his path.
Though Ted has left this world too soon, his spirit remains alive in the hearts of those who loved him. His family takes solace in knowing that he rests peacefully, embraced by the beauty of the world he so dearly loved.
A private family service will be held to honor Ted's memory. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to a nature conservation charity of your choice, in tribute to Ted's enduring love for the outdoors.
May his soul find eternal peace, surrounded by the serenity he cherished in life.
