Edward Steven Kovschak

Edward Steven Kovschak, a cherished husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away unexpectedly at his home on September 22, 2026. Born on February 9, 1949, in Erie, Pennsylvania, Edward lived a life defined by service, love, and dedication.
Edward was the beloved son of the late John and Katherine Kovschak. He was predeceased by his brothers, John Kovschak II and David Kovschak, who he held dear to his heart. He is survived by his devoted wife, Robyn Kovschak (Tarbell), with whom he shared a beautiful and enduring marriage of 54 years. Together, they built a loving home in Waterford, Pennsylvania, where they raised their four daughters: Lisa Izbicki, Stacy Howell (Eric), Katherine Eldred (Doug), and Stephanie Murray (Mark). Edward's legacy of love and family extends to his 14 treasured grandchildren: Jake, Genevieve, Vivienne, Hannah, Lauren, Gabrielle, Olivia, Hannah .Brooke, Luke, Benjamin, Nathan, Zachary, and Taylor, each of whom brought him immense joy and pride.
A graduate of General McLane High School, Class of 1967, Edward went on to serve his country with distinction as an Armor Reconnaissance Specialist in the U.S. Army from 1968 to 1970. Stationed in Vietnam, he bravely fought in the Tet Offensive, earning numerous commendations, including the Purple Heart, Vietnam Service Medal, and Combat Infantry Badge, among others. Edward's courage and dedication to his country were unwavering, and his service remains a point of pride for his family.
After his military service, Edward pursued a career as a concrete mason and heavy equipment operator, retiring from Washington Township. However, his true passion lay in working on the family farm. Whether bee keeping, hunting, meat processing, or raising cattle, Edward found joy in the simple, honest labor of the land. His dedication to completing any job, no matter how challenging, was a testament to his steadfast character and work ethic.
Edward's life will be celebrated at a Van Matre funeral home, Waterford Pennsylvania on September 27th from 2-4pm and 6-8pm.
The funeral will take place at VanMatre September 28th at 10am.
In lieu of flowers, those wishing to honor Edward's memory are encouraged to make donations to the Mill Village Fire Department.
Edward Steven Kovschak will be remembered as a man of integrity, strength, and unwavering love for his family. His memory will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him, a gentle reminder of a life filled with purpose and grace.
