In Loving Memory of Edward Orsak
Edward Orsak, affectionately known to many as a beacon of kindness and generosity, passed away peacefully on May 31, 2026, at the age of 80. Born on March 15, 1946, in Wharton, Texas, Edward's life was a rich tapestry of love, dedication, and cherished memories.
Edward was the beloved son of the late Edward and Tonie Orsak. He was preceded in death by his parents, his devoted wife Diane Orsak, his sister Rosemary Hinze, and nephews Jack and Bob Miska. Diane, whom he married on January 28, 1967, was his steadfast partner and the love of his life. Together, they built a warm and nurturing home filled with laughter and love.
A graduate of Boling High School in 1964, Edward made his career as a lineman with HL&P/Reliant, dedicating 35 years to ensuring the lights stayed on for countless families. His commitment to his work was matched only by his devotion to his family and his community.
Edward was a man of many passions. An avid deer hunter and fisherman, he found solace in the great outdoors. He also enjoyed the camaraderie of a good poker game and took great pride in showcasing his 1932 Chevy at car shows. These hobbies were not just pastimes; they were expressions of his zest for life, his appreciation for beauty, and his love for connecting with others.
Edward is survived by his loving children: his son Jeffery Orsak and daughter-in-law Nicole Orsak, and his daughter Chris Cissna and son-in-law Larry Cissna. He was a proud grandfather to five grandchildren: Wyatt Cissna and his wife Ashley Cissna, Jake Cissna, Jaden, and Kayce, as well as a doting great-grandfather to little Layla and a new addition on the way, fondly referred to as "babybean." His legacy of kindness and generosity will undoubtedly live on through them.
A memorial service to honor and celebrate Edward’s life will be held on June 6, 2026, at Wharton Funeral Home. Friends and family are invited to gather to remember a man who touched so many lives with his warmth and unwavering kindness.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to the Arthritis Foundation, a cause close to Edward’s heart. This gesture will continue Edward’s legacy of helping others, just as he did throughout his life.
Edward Orsak leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and the enduring lessons of a life well-lived. He will be dearly missed and fondly remembered by all who were fortunate enough to know him.
