Edward L. Slezak, a cherished father, grandfather, brother, and friend, peacefully passed away on May 22, 2026, at the age of 83. Born on November 3, 1942, in Brooklyn, NY, Edward was the beloved son of the late William and Anna Slezak. He was a man whose life was marked by dedication, love, and unwavering service to his family, friends, and community.
Edward grew up in a lively household in Brooklyn, alongside his brother William and sister Dolores. He graduated from Grover Cleveland High School, where he laid the foundation for a life characterized by kindness and integrity. Following high school, Edward answered the call to serve his country, enlisting in the U.S. Army from 1966 to 1969. His time in the military was a testament to his enduring commitment to duty and honor.
In 1971, Edward married the love of his life, Carol, on October 24. Together, they embarked on a remarkable journey, sharing 54 wonderful years filled with love, laughter, and countless cherished memories. Their union was blessed with two beautiful daughters, Michelle and Lisa, whom they raised with great devotion.
Edward found fulfillment in his long career as a postal worker, where he was known for his reliability and friendly demeanor. Beyond his professional life, Edward's world revolved around his family. He was a loving father to Lisa and the late Michelle, and a doting grandfather to his cherished grandchildren, Nicholas and Daniella Tamboni. He took immense joy in spending time with them, often sharing stories and laughter that will be fondly remembered.
A man of many interests, Edward was an avid reader, finding comfort and adventure within the pages of countless books. He cherished the quiet moments spent with a good book, but nothing brought him more happiness than being surrounded by his family. His warmth, wisdom, and gentle spirit were a guiding light to all who knew him.
Edward was predeceased by his parents, his brother William, his beloved wife Carol, and his dear daughter Michelle. He leaves behind his daughter Lisa and her husband Chris Tamboni, his sister Dolores Donovan, his treasured grandchildren Nicholas and Daniella Tamboni, and numerous extended family members and friends who will miss him dearly.
A service to celebrate Edward's life will be held on May 28, 2026, at 10:00 AM at Holy Child Church, located at 4747 Amboy Rd., Staten Island, NY 10312. Friends and family are invited to gather to honor a man whose life was a testament to love, service, and the enduring bonds of family.
