Edward Groth

June 15, 1945 — March 7, 2026

It is with deep sorrow and much love that we announce the peaceful passing of Edward Groth on March 7, 2026, at the age of 80. Ed departed this life surrounded by the love and comfort of his cherished family at his home, leaving behind a legacy of kindness, devotion, and unwavering service to those he held dear. Born on June 15, 1945, in the bustling borough of Brooklyn, New York, Ed was the beloved son of the late Charles and Theresa Groth. From an early age, Ed exhibited a keen sense of responsibility and compassion, qualities that would go on to define his life. After graduating with a Bachelor of Arts degree from Adelphi University, Ed answered the call to serve his country, joining the United States Navy from 1963 to 1967. His service was marked by dedication and honor, traits that he carried into his professional life as an air traffic controller. For 35 years, Ed ensured the safety of countless flights in the skies over New York and Tampa, always with a steady hand and a calm demeanor. Ed's personal life was an unwavering testament to love and commitment. He shared 55 beautiful years with his beloved wife, Rosemary, a partnership built on mutual respect, laughter, and an adventurous spirit. Together, they explored the world, creating memories that would be treasured by their sons Karl, Steve, Jeff, and Jim. Ed was a devoted father, always present with guidance, wisdom, and a listening ear. His vibrant spirit found its fullest expression in his role as a grandfather. To his six adoring grandchildren—Alexandra, Haley, Caden, Charlotte, Emily, and Lauren—he was a source of endless joy and inspiration. Ed's eyes would light up at the mere mention of their names, and he relished every opportunity to be a part of their lives. A man of deep faith, Ed dedicated countless hours to Our Lady of Lourdes in Dunedin, Florida, where he was a cherished member for 35 years. His service on the parish finance committee and his volunteer work were driven by a sincere desire to give back to the community that had given him so much. Ed's warm and boisterous personality was infectious; his laughter could fill a room, and his kindness left an indelible mark on everyone he met. He was a man who lived a life of servitude, not out of obligation, but out of love for his family, church, and friends. In addition to his wife, sons, and grandchildren, Ed is survived by his dear sister, Teri, who was a lifelong confidante and friend. Ed was predeceased by his parents, Charles and Theresa, who undoubtedly welcomed him with open arms. A service to celebrate Ed's remarkable life will be held on March 26, 2026, at 11:30 a.m. at Our Lady of Lourdes in Dunedin, Florida. Family, friends, and all whose lives were touched by Ed's kindness are invited to join in honoring a life lived with grace and love. Ed Groth will be forever missed, but his legacy of love and laughter will continue to light our hearts. His memory will be cherished by all who had the privilege of knowing him. Rest in peace, dear Ed. Your journey on Earth has ended, but your spirit will continue to guide and inspire us always.
