Edward (Eddie)

Edward “Eddie” Orlando Delgado, a beloved husband, father, brother, and friend, peacefully passed away at home on August 26, 2026, surrounded by his cherished wife and daughters both in person and on the phone. Born on October 24, 1932, in the vibrant town of San Herman, Puerto Rico, Eddie was the beloved son of Andres Delgado and Maria Teresa Rodriguez Delgado. Eddie lived a full and meaningful life, characterized by his unwavering devotion to family, community, and service. In 1956, he married the beautiful Iris Delgado, embarking on an extraordinary journey of love and companionship that spanned 70 joyful years. Together, Eddie and Iris built a home filled with laughter, delicious meals, and countless wisecracks that delighted all who gathered around their table. Eddie is lovingly remembered by his devoted wife Iris, his daughters Lillian Delgado-Krebs, with son-in-law Richard Krebs, and Yvette Woods. He also leaves behind his dear sisters, Nilda Hill and Andrea Paul, with brother-in-law Harold Paul, as well as numerous extended family members and friends. Eddie was predeceased by his loving son-in-law, Jeffrey Richard Woods. A proud veteran, Edward O. Delgado served his country with honor in the United States Army. His dedication to service continued throughout his life as he mentored young men, volunteered in inner-city programs, and served as an Equal Employment Opportunity liaison for the US Post Office at the Grand Central Station location. Eddie’s commitment to his community was further evidenced by his involvement in numerous organizations, including his roles as Chairman and President of the Spanish-American Club in the Bronx, NY, and as a coach for the club’s women's softball team. He also served on the board of several community-based programs, including a daycare center and food distribution centers. Eddie’s faith was an integral part of his life, and he served as a collection usher at Our Lady of Perpetual Help in Pelham, NY. Eddie found joy in life’s simple pleasures. He loved bowling, bingo, and dancing, and was an avid fan of Major League Baseball. Celebrating holidays and special occasions with family brought him immense happiness, and his infectious spirit made every gathering memorable. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Wounded Warrior Project, an organization close to Eddie’s heart. Eddie's legacy of kindness, laughter, and service will forever be cherished by all who were blessed to know him. His spirit will live on in the hearts of his family and the countless lives he touched throughout his remarkable journey.
