Edward A. Farrington

Edward A. Farrington, a devoted father, grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully on April 21, 2026, at the age of 93. Surrounded by the compassionate care of the Veterans Administration Hospital in Oakland, Pennsylvania, Edward left this world after a brief illness, leaving behind a legacy of love, service, and dedication. Born on March 19, 1933, in Sewickley, Pennsylvania, Edward was the cherished son of James Milton Farrington and Carrie Ann (Wilkerson) Farrington. Raised in a family that instilled strong values and a sense of community, Edward carried these principles throughout his life, evident in the many lives he touched. A proud alumnus of Sewickley High School in the early 1950s, Edward answered the call to serve his country with honor and distinction. He joined the U.S. Marine Corps in 1952, serving valiantly until 1956. His commitment to his country did not end there, as he went on to serve in the U.S. Air Force from January 29, 1957, until September 1, 1975. Over his 22-year military career, Edward witnessed the Korean and Vietnam conflicts, epitomizing bravery and dedication throughout his service. Following his honorable military career, Edward transitioned to a role as a federal civil service employee with Descon, where he continued to contribute to his country for an additional 13 years until his retirement on September 1, 1995. His work ethic and steadfast dedication to duty were admired by all who knew him. Edward was an active member of the General Daniel Chappie James Auxiliary Unit 776 American Legion in Dayton, Ohio, and a dedicated sponsor for Alcoholics Anonymous. His involvement in these organizations reflected his unwavering commitment to helping others and his community. An avid reader with a deep love for jazz, Edward found joy in the simple pleasures of life. Known for his strong family values, he was always willing to lend a helping hand to those in need, embodying the kindness and compassion that defined his character. Edward was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Grace M. Berry Farrington, his parents, James and Carrie Farrington, his brother William (Hip) Farrington, and his sisters Carolyn Jones and Mary (Toni) Fisher. He leaves behind a loving family who will forever cherish his memory: sons Edward H. Farrington and his wife Julie of Canonsburg Pennsylvania, and Raymond N. Farrington and his wife Marian of Houston, Texas; his adored grandson, Joshua C. Farrington of Houston, Texas; and many loving nieces, nephews, and close friends who will miss him dearly. A service to celebrate Edward's life will be held on April 27, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at RD Copeland LTD Irvine Chapel, located at 702 Beaver Street, Sewickley, Pennsylvania. The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the Veterans Hospital of Oakland, Pennsylvania, for their compassionate care during Edward's hospitalization. Edward A. Farrington's life was a testament to the power of service, love, and community. As we bid farewell to a remarkable man, we honor the indelible mark he has left on our hearts and cherish the memories of a life well-lived.
