Edna (Wheeland) Kasse

December 4, 1942 — August 30, 2026

Edna (Wheeland) Kasse, a cherished soul born on December 4, 1942, in Columbus, Ohio, gently departed this world on August 30, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of love, service, and warmth. Edna's life was a testament to kindness and dedication, qualities that shone brightly in every role she embraced. A proud alumna of Linden McKinley High School, Edna graduated in 1962, embarking on a journey that would see her touch many lives. She spent 13 dedicated years working at Woolsworth Department Store in downtown Columbus, where her work ethic and friendly nature endeared her to many. Edna was a devoted member of the Lower Lights Community Church of the Nazarene, where her contributions were felt far and wide. Her roles were many, from teaching in Sunday School and nurturing children in the nursery to participating in the bus ministry. Edna’s hands were always busy in the clothes closet and food pantry, where her giving spirit was a beacon of hope for many. Her love for the outdoors was as vibrant as the gardens she tended. Edna found joy in cultivating both vegetable and flower gardens, and her connection with nature was mirrored in the gentle care she gave to her beloved animals. Those who knew Edna will remember her as a woman who spoke her mind with sincerity and warmth. Her heart was as open as her hands, always ready to give more than she received. Her family was her pride, and the legacy she leaves is a testament to the love she nurtured in her home. Edna is survived by her devoted husband of 63 years, Ted Kasse, who walked beside her through life’s journey. Her children, Debbie Remley, Ted Kasse Jr., Dereck Kasse, and Michelle Kasse, carry forward her spirit of kindness and strength. She was a loving grandmother to four grandchildren and a cherished great-grandmother to five. Her siblings, Mildred Hennen and Edward Wheeland, along with many nephews and nieces, mourn her passing while celebrating the life she lived. A service honoring Edna’s life will be held on September 26, 2026, at 11:30 a.m. at Lower Lights Community Church. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly suggests donations to the Lower Lights Church food pantry, reflecting Edna's enduring commitment to helping those in need. As we remember Edna, let us carry forward the lessons she taught us through her actions, her love, and her unwavering belief in the goodness of giving. Her memory will forever be a blessing to all who had the privilege of knowing her.
