It is with heavy hearts and cherished memories that we announce the passing of Edna M. Howe, a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, who departed this life on March 31, 2026, at the age of 86. Edna passed away peacefully at Albany Medical Center, leaving behind a legacy of love, wisdom, and quiet strength that will forever be remembered by all who knew her.
Edna was born on September 24, 1939, in the charming town of Wells, Vermont, to her loving parents, Charles and Edith Howe. She was the middle of six children, predeceased by her siblings Virginia, Walter, Alice, and Kay. Edna grew up surrounded by the tranquil beauty of Vermont, where she developed a lifelong love for nature, particularly the art of fly fishing. Her passion for reading whisked her away on countless adventures, fueling her imagination and enriching her soul.
Edna's life was a tapestry woven with love and devotion to her family. She is survived by her children, Cyndy (Tim) Cummings and Ron Hughes, who were the center of her world. Her grandchildren, Zachary, Thomas, Jared, Cheyenne, and Cara, held a special place in her heart, and she took great pride in their accomplishments. Edna also leaves behind four great-grandchildren.
In her later years, Edna found love and joy with her significant other, Bruce Earle, and embraced his family as her own. She is fondly remembered by Bruce's children, Lisa and Bruce Douglas, along with grandchildren, Gregory and Jamison. Edna's sister, Thelma Estey, survives her and will forever hold dear the memories of their sisterly bond.
Edna was a quiet woman , known for her warmth and kindness. She possessed a gentle spirit that blossomed once she got to know you, revealing a woman of depth, intelligence, and humor. She raised her children with love and patience, imparting values that have been passed down through generations.
The family kindly requests that donations be made in Edna’s honor to the American Heart Association, a cause close to her heart.
