Edna Geraldine Dean
December 1, 1941 — March 30, 2026
Edna Geraldine Dean, a beacon of love and quiet grace, passed away peacefully on March 30, 2026, at the age of 84. Born on December 1, 1941, in the vibrant city of Paterson, New Jersey, Edna was the cherished daughter of James and Bessie Jeter. Her life was a testament to resilience, compassion, and an unwavering commitment to her family and community.
Edna was the embodiment of warmth and wisdom. Her early years in Paterson were spent surrounded by the lively dynamics of her siblings. She was predeceased by her beloved sisters Gertrude Quackenbush, Edith Daniels, and Sue Jeter, and her brothers William, Jack, and Hank Jeter. The familial bonds she nurtured were a cornerstone of her cherished memories and life’s journey.
A proud alumna of Eastside High School and Chattahoochee Technical College, Edna carried her passion for learning into her professional life. Her career as a Child Support Enforcement Agent at the Cobb County District Attorney's Office was marked by her unwavering dedication to justice and her compassion for the families she served. Her colleagues and the countless families she supported remember her as a steadfast advocate and a gentle confidante.
In her personal life, Edna was devoted to her family. She shared a beautiful life with her husband, Daniel Robert Dean, whose love was a constant source of strength and joy. Together, they raised two children, Tracy Renee Dean, who predeceased her, and Kevin Maurice Dean, who carries forward her legacy of kindness and integrity. Her grandson, Latrell Matthew Condrey, was the apple of her eye, and she reveled in the joy of watching him grow.
Edna’s home was a sanctuary of love and laughter, often filled with the melodies of her favorite music and the serene beauty of her garden. She was an avid reader whose curiosity knew no bounds, and her garden was a reflection of her nurturing spirit and love for nature’s splendor.
Her gentle, reserved nature belied a deep warmth and an open heart that embraced those she held dear. To be within Edna’s circle was to know the true meaning of unconditional love and support. Her sisters, Doris Thomas and June Backman-Cohen (Josephas), survive her and carry forward the shared memories and bonds that only sisters can know.
As we bid farewell to Edna, we celebrate a life beautifully lived, one that touched many with its authenticity and grace. Her legacy is one of enduring love, quiet strength, and an unyielding belief in the goodness of people.
A service to honor Edna's life will be held in the coming days, where family and friends will gather to share stories and celebrate the remarkable journey of a woman who lived with love at her core. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to a local literacy charity, in honor of Edna’s lifelong passion for reading and learning.
Edna Geraldine Dean, though your physical presence will be deeply missed, your spirit will forever be a guiding light in the hearts of those who knew and loved you. Rest in peace, dear Edna, knowing you have left the world a gentler, more beautiful place.
