Edna Gardner

September 16, 1939 — May 13, 2026

It is with heavy hearts and profound gratitude for a life well-lived that we announce the passing of Edna Gardner, a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend. Edna departed this world peacefully on May 13, 2026, after a courageous battle with cancer. She was 86 years old. Edna was born on September 16, 1939, in the close-knit community of Olivet, Kansas. She was the cherished daughter of the late Louis and Dorothy Weimer, who instilled in her the values of hard work, kindness, and resilience. In the summer of 1955, Edna married the love of her life, Lester Gardner, on August 29th in Camden, Missouri. Together, they built a life filled with love, laughter, and cherished memories, until Lester's passing. Their union was blessed with two daughters, Rhonda and Janet, and Edna dedicated herself to nurturing and guiding their family with grace and devotion. She was also preceded in death by her dear daughter Rhonda and beloved grandson Clifford, whose memories she cherished deeply. Edna's life was marked by her warm, welcoming spirit and her passion for connecting with others. A natural conversationalist, she always enjoyed visiting with people, sharing stories and laughter that brightened the lives of everyone she met. Her love for travel allowed her to explore new places and forge new friendships, leaving an indelible mark on all who crossed her path. Throughout her life, Edna held several jobs and was a dedicated homemaker, creating a nurturing and loving environment for her family. Her home was always a place of gathering, where warmth and love were abundant, and everyone felt welcome. Edna's legacy lives on in the hearts of her surviving family members: her devoted daughter Janet Brown and her husband Bruce, her loving daughter Donna Gibbs, her two cherished sisters, her brother, three adoring grandchildren, and several great-grandchildren who were the light of her life. A celebration of Edna's life will be held on June 12, 2026, at 2:00 PM at the Ward Meade House, located at 122 NW Filmore, Topeka. Family, friends, and all those who were touched by her kindness are invited to gather in remembrance of a woman who gave so much to others. In lieu of flowers, Edna's family kindly requests that donations be made in her memory to the Helping Human Society, an organization close to her heart. Contributions will honor Edna's compassionate spirit and her lifelong commitment to helping those in need. Edna Gardner's life was a testament to love, resilience, and the power of human connection. She leaves behind a legacy of warmth and kindness that will continue to inspire those who knew her. She will be deeply missed but forever remembered with love.
