Edna Gardner
September 16, 1939 — May 13, 2026
It is with heavy hearts and cherished memories that we announce the passing of Edna Gardner, a beloved mother, sister, grandmother, and friend, who left us on May 13, 2026, after a courageous battle with cancer. Born on September 16, 1939, in the small town of Olivet, Kansas, Edna was the cherished daughter of Louis and Dorothy Weimer. Her life was a testament to resilience, love, and an unwavering dedication to her family and community.
Edna married Lester Gardner, on August 29th, in Camden, Missouri. Together, they built a life filled with love, laughter, and countless adventures. Though Lester and their precious daughter, Rhonda, and grandson, Clifford, predeceased her.
Edna had an unwavering work ethic, holding various jobs throughout her life while also being a devoted homemaker. Her home was a sanctuary of love and warmth, where she raised her family and welcomed all with open arms. Her strength and kindness were evident in every endeavor she undertook, and she inspired those around her to embrace life with the same vigor and grace.
A woman of many interests, Edna had a passion for meeting new people and traveling to new places. She cherished the connections she made along the way, always ready with a smile and a kind word. Her travels enriched her life and the lives of those she loved, leaving behind a tapestry of memories that will be treasured forever.
Edna's legacy lives on through her surviving family: her devoted daughters, Janet Brown (Bruce) and Donna Gibbs, her two loving sisters and her brother, three cherished grandchildren, and several great-grandchildren, who will continue to honor her memory and the values she instilled in them.
A celebration of Edna’s life will be held on June 12, 2026, at 2:00 PM at the historic Ward Meade House, located at 122 NW Filmore, Topeka. Friends and family are invited to join us in remembering a remarkable woman who touched so many hearts.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in Edna’s name to the Helping Human Society, an organization close to her heart, reflecting her lifelong commitment to kindness and community service.
As we say goodbye to Edna, we hold onto the love she shared with us, the lessons she taught us, and the joy she brought into our lives. Her spirit will forever be a part of us, a constant reminder of the power of love and the beauty of a life well-lived.
