Edith Taylor Stanley
June 10, 1953 — May 5, 2026
Edith Taylor Stanley, a beloved mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully on May 5, 2026, at the age of 72, after a courageous battle with cancer. Born on June 10, 1953, in the quaint town of Kinston, Edith was the cherished daughter of the late Lynnwood and Mariza Taylor, who instilled in her the values of kindness, resilience, and unwavering dedication to family.
In her early years, Edith radiated warmth and generosity, traits that she carried throughout her life. She was a pillar of strength to those around her, always ready with a comforting word or a helping hand. Her gentle spirit and enduring compassion were most evident in her 33-year career as an in-home healthcare aide, where she provided not just care, but genuine love and companionship to those she served. Her commitment to her work was a testament to her nurturing nature and her deep-seated desire to make a difference in the lives of others.
Edith was preceded in death by her devoted husband, Roger Clarence Stanley, Sr., with whom she shared countless years of love and companionship, and her parents, Lynnwood and Mariza Taylor, who undoubtedly welcomed her into their embrace once more.
Left to honor and cherish her memory are her three sons, Phillip, Justin, and David, who carry forward her legacy of kindness and strength. She is also survived by her caring daughter-in-law, Natalie, and her kindred spirit, Jessica Nerault, who stood by her side with unwavering support. Edith's four grandchildren, Elizabeth, Dawson, Cameron, and Peyton, were the light of her life, and her love for them was limitless. Her great-grandson, Atticus, brought her immense joy and hope for the future.
Edith's life was a testament to the power of love and the importance of family. Her home was always filled with laughter, warmth, and the aroma of home-cooked meals shared amongst loved ones. Her wisdom and gentle guidance will be deeply missed but forever remembered by those whose lives she touched.
A service to celebrate Edith's remarkable life will be held on May 14, 2026, at 6:00 PM at the Parrish Funeral Home in Selma, NC. Friends and family are invited to gather to honor this extraordinary woman who gave so much of herself to others.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to a cancer research charity of your choice, as a tribute to Edith's brave fight and enduring spirit. As we say goodbye to Edith, we are reminded of the lasting impact she had on our hearts and the beautiful legacy she leaves behind. Her memory will forever be a blessing to those who knew and loved her.
