Edith Mims
January 3, 1936 — September 21, 2026
It is with heavy hearts and profound respect that we announce the passing of Edith Mims, a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and cherished friend, who departed peacefully at her residence on September 21, 2026, after a long illness. Born on January 3, 1936, in Reidsville, NC, Edith lived a life filled with love, devotion, and an unwavering commitment to her family and community.
Edee loved walking and enjoying nature. Her ministry was helping others in her neighborhood. She would get mail in for those who couldn't get it and take your trash can to the curb and bring it back for you. She had a green thumb for planting flowers and shrubs all in her yard.
Edee was always a kind, warm, loving, and gentle woman. She didn't mind telling you that she loved you and never met a stranger.Edith's journey through life was marked by her nurturing spirit and the strength she imparted to all who knew her. A matriarch in the truest sense, she was the guiding light for her large family, always providing wisdom, comfort, and unconditional love. Her home was a sanctuary where everyone felt welcome, where laughter and warmth were abundant.
A proud and loving mother, Edith leaves behind her daughters: Cynthia Mims, Phyllis Williamson, Patricia D. Mims, Christine Mims, Edith Cavell Mims, and Judy Parker (Curtis), all of Reidsville, NC. Her legacy is further carried by her nine grandchildren: Laquenta Mims-France (King), Zinnie Mims, Nephetia Tryman Whittaker (Naima), Ramel Whittaker, Ishmael Mims, Jawanza Mims (Amber), Ciera Williamson (Jamell Moore), Israel Mims-Lutz (Stephen), and Nalicia Canada (Tymaine). Edith's boundless love also extended to her 21 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren, who will forever hold dear the memories of their beloved matriarch.
Edith's life was a testament to the power of love and resilience. Her gentle strength and caring nature were a source of inspiration to all who crossed her path. Whether it was through a simple act of kindness or her steadfast support, Edith touched the lives of many, leaving an indelible mark on the hearts of those she loved.
As we celebrate Edith's life, we find solace in the knowledge that her legacy of love and compassion will continue to inspire generations to come. She will be deeply missed, but her memory will live on in the hearts of her family, friends, and all who were fortunate enough to know her.
May Edith Mims rest in eternal peace, reunited with those she cherished, and forever remembered by those who loved her.
