Edith Merle Sanders
February 3, 1934 — June 29, 2026
It is with heavy hearts but deep gratitude for a life well-lived that we announce the passing of Edith Merle Sanders, who peacefully departed this world on June 29, 2026, at the age of 92. Born on February 3, 1934, in the small town of Adrin, Texas, Edith was the cherished daughter of Arbie and a loving mother who, alongside her beloved husband Harvey Sanders, dedicated herself to nurturing a family filled with love and faith.
Edith and Harvey embarked on a journey together over six decades ago, marrying in the beautiful years of the mid-20th century. Their 63-year-long partnership was a testament to enduring love and commitment. Together, they raised two sons, Brian and Mason, who were the pride and joy of their lives. Edith's family expanded to include daughters-in-law Michelle and Jamie, as well as two treasured grandsons, Jacob and Zachary, who brought immense joy to her heart.
Throughout her life, Edith was a pillar of kindness and grace. Known for her servant heart, she always saw the best in others and extended her generosity wherever she could. A faithful member of the Southmac Church of Christ, now Christ Church, Edith's dedication to her faith was unwavering. Her involvement in several bible study groups reflected her deep spiritual conviction and her desire to grow and share in her faith journey.
Professionally, Edith spent a fulfilling decade working alongside dentist Jerry Dunn. Her gentle nature and dedication to her work made her a cherished colleague and friend. Beyond her professional life, Edith's personal interests were as vibrant as her personality. She found joy in the simple pleasures of life, whether it was engaging in lively card games with friends, enjoying aerobic classes at the senior center, or the quiet satisfaction of solving puzzles. Her love for shopping, reading, and traveling added color to her life, but her greatest happiness came from spending quality time with her family, especially her grandsons.
Edith was predeceased by her beloved parents, two brothers, and three sisters, each of whom she held dear. Her legacy of love and kindness continues through her surviving family: her sons and their families, many cherished nieces and nephews, and her dear sister-in-law, Dorothy Wilhite.
A service to honor and celebrate Edith's life will be held at Christ Church, where she spent countless hours in fellowship and worship. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations to Christ Church, ensuring Edith's commitment to her faith community lives on.
Edith Merle Sanders will be remembered as a woman of incredible warmth, a gentle spirit who touched the hearts of all who knew her. Her life was a tapestry of love, faith, family, and friendship—a legacy that will be cherished by all those who were fortunate enough to know her.
May she rest in eternal peace, embraced by the love she so freely gave in life.
