Edith Inez Hogeland
December 23, 1952 — February 19, 2026
Edith Inez Hogeland, a beloved mother, sister, and cherished member of her community, passed peacefully at her home in Halls, TN, on February 19, 2026, at the age of 73. Her journey began on December 23, 1952, born to the late William Terry and Pauline (Burr) Dix, who instilled in her the values of faith, family, and resilience.
Edith's life was a testament to her unwavering dedication to those she loved. She was predeceased by her devoted husband, Howard Melvin Hogeland, with whom she shared many precious years. Together, they built a home filled with laughter, love, and strong family values. Her siblings, Shirley Ann Jeter, Norma Hilliard, Mary Alice McAlister, Hay Boone, Jimmy Terry, Jerry Terry, and Roger "Rabbit" Terry, also preceded her in death, and she held each of their memories close to her heart.
She leaves behind a legacy of love and devotion in her two sons, Christopher Lynn Hogeland of Halls, TN, and Daniel (Jessica) Hogeland of McAllen, TX. Edith was the proud grandmother of six grandchildren, each of whom brought immense joy and purpose to her life. Her love and guidance will forever be a guiding light in their paths. She is also survived by her sister, Juanita Prater, and brother, George Terry, both of Halls, TN, who will miss her deeply.
A dedicated member of South Fork Baptist Church, Edith's faith was the cornerstone of her life. She was a God-fearing woman who loved the Lord and found strength and solace in her relationship with Him. Her church family was an extension of her own, and she cherished the fellowship and spiritual growth she experienced within its welcoming walls.
Edith's interests were simple yet profound, centered around her family and her faith. Her sons were her top priority, and she ensured they were always surrounded by love and care. A lover of literature, she found joy in the pages of Danielle Steel books, often losing herself in their stories during quiet moments of reflection.
A service to honor Edith's life will be held on February 21, 2026, at 11:00 AM at Halls Funeral Home, located at 109 N. Church St. Halls, TN 38040. Friends and family are invited to gather and celebrate the life of a remarkable woman whose legacy will endure in the hearts of all who knew her.
Though Edith has departed from this world, her spirit remains in the laughter of her grandchildren, the warmth of her sons, and the everlasting love she shared with those fortunate enough to have known her. She will be remembered as a beacon of love, strength, and faith, deeply missed but never forgotten.
