Edgar McMichael
July 10, 1953 – May 21, 2026
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Edgar McMichael, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend, on May 21, 2026. Edgar left this world surrounded by the love of his family at the age of 72, leaving behind a legacy of warmth, dedication, and joy that will be cherished by all who knew him.
Born on July 10, 1953, in Pascagoula, Mississippi, Edgar was the cherished son of Jefferson and Leal McMichael. He was the embodiment of Southern hospitality, a true gentleman with a heart as vast as the Mississippi sky. Edgar was preceded in death by his dear parents, Jeff and Leal, whom he honored with his life and actions.
Edgar proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps, a testament to his courage, discipline, and unwavering sense of duty. After his service, he pursued a fulfilling career as a Facility Manager with Sipcam Agro Solutions in Waynesboro, Mississippi. His dedication to his work and his team was evident throughout the many years he spent there, earning him the respect and admiration of colleagues and friends alike.
A man of many passions, Edgar was an avid fisherman who spent countless hours engaged in competitive tournament fishing with numerous clubs across Alabama and Mississippi. His love for the water was matched only by his passion for racing and car building, hobbies that brought him immense joy and camaraderie. Edgar was also an ardent fan of Alabama Football, relishing every opportunity to watch the game surrounded by his large, loving family.
Edgar's greatest joy, however, was his family. He is survived by his devoted wife, Debra McMichael, who stood by his side through life's many adventures. Together, they built a beautiful family, including their children: Leal Burrus (Treven) of Millry, AL; Becky Holifield (Scott) of Waynesboro, MS; Jeff McMichael (Leah) of Millry, AL; Jessica Bunch of Waynesboro, MS; Kevin Chance (Chandler) of Waynesboro, MS; and Maggie Lindsey of Millry, AL. Edgar's heart overflowed with pride for his 22 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren, whose laughter and accomplishments were a constant source of delight.
As we gather to celebrate Edgar's life, we remember a man who embodied kindness, strength, and generosity. His legacy lives on in the stories we share, the traditions we uphold, and the love that binds us together. Edgar will be deeply missed but never forgotten, as his spirit continues to inspire all who were fortunate enough to know him.
A service in Edgar's honor will be held at [Location and Time], where family and friends are invited to pay their respects and celebrate the life of a truly remarkable man. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to [Charity/Organization] in Edgar's memory, a tribute to his enduring spirit and passion for helping others.
May Edgar McMichael rest in peace, knowing his life was a testament to love and dedication, and may his memory be a blessing to all who knew him.
