Edgar Lamar "Unc" LaPrairie, a beloved son, brother, uncle, and friend, passed away on September 28, 2026, in Deville, Louisiana, at the age of 56. Born on January 19, 1970, in Alexandria, Louisiana, Edgar lived a life filled with adventure, love, and a deep connection to nature. "Unc," as he was affectionately known, was the cherished son of the late Edgar Harrison LaPrairie, Jr., and Dianne K. Deville LaPrairie. He was preceded in death by his devoted parents, his paternal grandparents Edgar & Aurelia LaPrairie, maternal grandparents Riley & Janie Deville, and his precious great-niece, Emma Grace LaPrairie. Edgar leaves behind a family who adored him deeply, including his loving sister, Ramona LaPrairie, his nephew Erin "E.J." LaPrairie, and his niece and godchild, LaDonna "Monkey" LaPrairie. He was also a treasured uncle to his great-niece, Breana "Jack" LaPrairie, and many other great-nieces and nephews. To countless others, he was simply "Unc," a title he wore with pride and affection. A true outdoorsman, Edgar's heart was most content when surrounded by nature. He was a passionate fisherman and made his living as a commercial fisherman, spending countless hours on the water, driving his boat with a joyful spirit. Edgar also had a great love for deer hunting and camping, and he found peace in the simple pleasure of arrowhead hunting. His adventurous spirit and love for the outdoors were matched only by his kindness and generosity, leaving a lasting impact on all who knew him. A celebration of Edgar's life will be held on October 17, 2026, at 1:00 PM at the New Hope Free Methodist Church, located at 1178 LA-1206, Deville, LA 71328. Family, friends, and all whose lives Edgar touched are invited to join in honoring and remembering a truly remarkable man.
