It is with heavy hearts and deep gratitude for a life well-lived that we announce the passing of Edgar K. McGinnis, who departed this world on __, . Born on December 31, 1951, in Youngstown, Ohio, Edgar spent _ years touching the lives of those around him with warmth, kindness, and an unwavering dedication to family and community.
Edgar was the beloved son of Edgar,(Sr) and Mary McGinnis, who preceded him in death. He was raised in the close-knit community of Austintown, where his journey of life and learning began at Immaculate Heart of Mary grade school. A proud graduate of Ursuline High School, Class of 1970, Edgar went on to further his education at A.T.E.S. Technical School, where he honed his skills and prepared for a career that would be marked by both resilience and versatility.
His professional life began with a brief tenure at Graef Aluminum in Boardman. It was with the encouragement of his Uncle Joe that Edgar found his place at Youngstown Sheet and Tube, becoming a Journeyman Millwright ,dedicating 13 years to the industry until the plant's closure. Ed's ability and talent gave him options to work different jobs. He worked for his brother in law, Larry Gilmore, as handyman, security guard. Went to Dietrich Industries and then to R.M.I. retiring after 31 years .Edgar's career was not just a testament to his work ethic but also to his ability to adapt and persevere through the changing tides of industry in his beloved Youngstown.
In 1976, Edgar married his sweetheart, Linda Gilmore, embarking on a journey of love and companionship that would span over 50 wonderful years. Linda was not only his wife but his confidant and best friend, sharing in all of life's joys and challenges side by side. Together, they built a home filled with laughter, love, and the warmth of family.
Edgar's commitment to community service was evident in his role as a Brookfield Volunteer Fireman and EMT, fulfilling a lifelong dream to be a fireman. His dedication to helping others extended beyond his career, embodying a spirit of selflessness and bravery that inspired all who knew him.
Edgar's interests were as varied as they were passionate. He found peace and joy in the simple pleasures of life—casting a line while fishing, the thrill of a well-aimed target, and the artistry of cooking and grilling. But perhaps his greatest joy came from being surrounded by family, especially his daughters, Jamie and Shannon, and his son Kevin, cherishing grandchildren and great-grandchildren,Chloe, Caitlin, Kylie, Kiera,Kaden,Phoebe and Penelope.
Edgar leaves behind a legacy of love, dedication, and service that will forever be remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him. His life was a testament to the power of family, the importance of community, and the joy of living life with purpose and passion.
As we celebrate Edgar's life, we invite all who knew and loved him to join in honoring his memory at a service to be held at a date yet to be announced. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Brookfield Volunteer Fire Department, in recognition of Edgar's service and commitment to his community.
