August 21, 1964 — May 4, 2026

With heavy hearts and profound sadness, we announce the passing of Eddie Lee Reid, a beloved brother, uncle, and friend, who left us on May 4, 2026. Born on August 21, 1964, in Durham, North Carolina, Eddie lived a life filled with kindness, creativity, and a deep passion for helping others. He was 61 years old. Eddie was the cherished son of the late Mary Reid and Tommy Henderson. He was preceded in death by his dear parents, as well as his brother, Howard Reid, and sister, Elaine Reid. Eddie's legacy of love and compassion continues to live on through his surviving family: his devoted sisters, Evelyn Trice, Melea Currie, Linda Reid, and Shiakira Walker; his sister-in-law, Angie Reid; and his loving brother, Clayton Reid, and his wife, Deborah. Eddie is also survived by his treasured aunts, Patsy Owen’s and Gail Worthy, his uncle, Bernard White, and a host of nieces and nephews who affectionately called him "Uncle Eddie." Eddie had a natural gift for drawing, creating art that reflected his gentle spirit and unique perspective on the world. His artwork was a testament to his ability to see beauty in simplicity and to express emotions that touched the hearts of those around him. Beyond his artistic talents, Eddie was known for his unwavering kindness. He had an innate ability to make everyone feel valued and loved, always extending a helping hand to those in need. His compassion and empathy left a lasting impact on everyone fortunate enough to know him. On May 15, 2026, at 12:00 PM, we will gather to celebrate Eddie's life and honor his memory at Hanes Funeral Home, located at 460 S Driver St, Durham, NC. We invite all who knew Eddie to join us in remembering a man whose life was a testament to generosity and love. As we bid farewell, let us cherish the memories we shared and find comfort in knowing that Eddie's spirit will forever remain in our hearts. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to a local charity in Eddie's name, as a tribute to his lifelong commitment to helping others. May we all strive to carry forward Eddie's legacy of kindness and compassion in our own lives. Rest in peace, dear Eddie. You will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all whose lives you touched.
